Chapter 22

Nova's POV

I wake up on the couch.

I hear nobody around.

So I go in the kitchen.

No one.

A piece of paper catches my eye as it flows on the fridge from the wind from the balcony.

I look at it and take the magnet off of and read it.

Nova,
We all needed some air so we are all outside in front of the hotel. Come down when you wake up.

I shrug and go into the elevator.

I ride all the way down with my eyes closed.

I go out the front doors of the hotel.

I look for my friends but I don't see them.

Then I hear gunshots.

From Zach's gun too.

I follow the sound of echoing gun shots and I find my friends all staring frighteningly at something.

I walk up to them.

About twenty feet in front of them is about five clickers.

Attacking someone.

Jason, who is standing beside me, is using Zach's gun and is trying to shoot them.

I hear screaming.

My heart drops.

Zach.

"ZACH?!" I scream

I start to run towards the zombies that are killing him.

Jason grabs me.

"We cant save him. He's probably bitten by now." He says

All of my friends are crying.

And I just sit there, crying so hard that I fall to my knees while Jason still holds my shoulders, and watch my best friend get ripped into pieces by clickers.

The clickers walk away.

I'm crying so much that I'm shaking.

I break out of Jason's hold and run to Zach.

He doesn't even look the same.

There's blood.

So much blood.

I drop to the floor and scream.

I sit up, sweaty.

I look around me.

I'm on the hotel couch.

"Thank God you're awake!!" I hear someone yell

And then I'm embraced in a comforting hug.

"Zach?!" I yell

He pulls away with a confused look.

"Yeah..." He says slowly

"Oh my God." I breathe out

It was a dream.

I was dreaming.

Zach didn't die.

"I-I had a dream." I say as I start to cry "A-and y-y-you d-died!!" I cry out

He hugs me again.

"Shhh its okay. Look, I'm fine!" He says as he pulls away and spreads his arms out to show me that he isn't even wounded.
