I think it's just a thing that writers do is giving characters a traumatic past. I mean, when I started to first write in middle school I just wrote my main characters with a lot of unreasonable trauma. I mean, it was kinda bad to just throw trauma like a parent or loved one dying or something of that nature on all of my characters in one book. But, I thought it would be cool to talk about how to write trauma in a character since I feel like middle school me should've researched more on how to properly write this in characters. So, I wanted to give some helpful tips on this topic!

More than likely if your character has a traumatic past they are more than likely not wanting to talk about it.

It's also good to realize that even though they talk about their trauma at some point it doesn't mean that trauma just magically goes away.

Give that character a way to relieve stress like a habit of biting their nails or bouncing their leg a lot.

Also not everyone goes through trauma the same way and so do characters.
