I PRAY

I stare at the mirror for an hour,

How did she get all these wrinkles, I wonder.

Every line on her face seems to tell a story,

Of a girl who thought she had an eternity.

I look around me in hopes that I might find,

The purpose of my life and what I had left behind.

Yet nothing seems salvageable of what's left,

So, I close my eyes and count.

One,

I was too little to have fun.

Two,

My mom had deserted me too.

Three,

I regret kissing Charlie.

I look in the mirror and wonder,

What on earth did I do to the little girl?

She used to look happier and healthier,

Yet now she looks so weak and brittle.

I Look in the mirror and Pray,

That she finds a way,

To be happy, I'd say.

I Pray that the girl I see in the mirror can smile,

At me whenever I see her,

And if she can't find it in her to smile,

I Pray I'll be strong enough to accept her.
