As I watched the stunning brunette dance, my mind wandered to all the things I wanted to do to her. I quickly shoved those thoughts away; they'd only distract me. I had seen her perform before, and every time she was on stage, I couldn't help but feel a mix of desire and disgust. There was something about her that irked me, and I couldn't put my finger on what it was. Who was she?

I called my office. "The girl," I drawled. "Bring her up."

"Which one?"

I eyed the window in my office looking down into the club. The brunette just walked off the stage. "The girl who just got down."

"Lilith?" Luke asked through the phone.

"Bring. Her. Up." I grit my teeth. "Do I have to repeat myself, Luke?"

"No Boss," Luke muttered. "She'll be there in ten."

"Make it five," I snapped, tossing the phone onto my couch, where it bounced off and fell onto the carpet.

Even my phone has failed me.

I couldn't shake Luke's words. Lilith? It couldn't be....................... could it?

The brunette walked in exactly five minutes later. She couldn't have come in more hesitant.

She knocked first, a slow three knocks in succession. I pressed the button to open the door. Gears from metal whirring as the door opened, she walked into the room, long legs and all. I lazily looked her up and down, not really taking anything in. Her face turned bright red and I almost laughed right then.

She was shy. The stripper was shy.

She looked different up close. The stage lights hadn't done justice to the depth in her eyes, a mix of vulnerability and defiance. Her eyes met mine. She had the same eyes.

"Is this your natural hair color?" I asked casually.

She nodded, her eyes guarded. "Yeah, it is, why?"

I couldn't help but think of the Lilith I knew, the one with fiery red hair that matched her spirited personality. This girl might have the same eyes, but she wasn't my Lilith.

Lilith was a common name, and plenty of them had blue eyes.

"Just checking. I knew someone with red hair once."

"Well?" I pointed to the pole in my private room. "Dance for me, sweetheart," I taunted with a smirk on my face.

She hesitated for a moment, her eyes darting towards the door as if she was considering leaving. I gave a pointed look towards the wallet lying on my desk.

She seemed to gather herself and walked over to the pole, heels clacking against the hardwood floor. She looked at me over her shoulder. My smirk grew, causing her eyes to narrow in defiance as she began to move to the music.

I watched her, my eyes fixed on her every move. She was good, I had to give her that. But there was something about her that rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it was the way she moved, like she was trying to prove something.

A startling cracking sound resounded in the room. A few more shots rang out and she screamed, almost falling. The bullet had whizzed past the pole, right beside her thigh.

"Shut up," I snapped, whipping my gun from its holster. "Do you want to get killed?"

She looked at me with wide eyes. "Don't you have a safe room or something?" She whisper-yelled.

I clicked the bullets into place, quickly debating in my head.

Should I leave her here? She was going to scream again, and I would be a dead man. Looking at the brunette, I could see the fear on her face when she looked at me.

I couldn't just leave someone, someone who wasn't experienced in this, along with a shooter on the loose. I just couldn't.

Roxy would kill me. The girl looked at me, panic dancing in her eyes, pleading with me to do something, anything.

But then, I realized that she wasn't looking at me. She was looking behind me.

The gun clicked again.

This time, it wasn't mine.
