After years of traveling across the country, you decide to settle down in a small quiet town called, Gravity Falls, in Oregon. You always loved the ocean so you wanted to live close to that, along with being far away from your mother, you resented even calling that woman a mom, but you never denied the facts.
You pulled in the valley and it look beautiful, a waterfall, a majestic forest, and the sweet little town, which didn't have any motel or hotel, so you'd have to sleep in your car until you could get a house, if you could even get a house.. But you wanted to think positive so you kept a smile as you parked your car in a small parking lot. You explored the town a small bit and everyone seemed to know each other, so they would probably ask or say things like 'your not from around here' or 'your new in town' things like that.
You haven't eaten since yesterday for dinner and felt quite hungry so you walked around a bit and saw a diner, patting your pocket to check for your wallet, you walk in. The bell ringed and you walked in, a blonde girl. Probably 13 walked up to you, in a dull pink dress and a white apron with a stain over top greeting you, "Hello ma'am I'm Pacifica, follow me to your table please." She said with a happy smile, you could tell she was in a good mood, you picked up the habit of seeing through people, knowing how they really feel and all.
You sat down and thanked the nice teenager as she handed you a menu. You were browsing through looking for something to eat, as the bell rang and a family of four walked in. You took a short glance up to see a small girl, probably same age as Pacifica, in a pink sweater, a boy looking the same age in a orange t-shirt with a vest, shorts and a blue and white hat. Along with two older gentleman with them. One in a suit the other in a red turtle neck and brown trench coat. The two older ones looked like twins, now to think about it, so did the kids.
You didn't wanna seem rude for starring so you looked back at the menu, but something caught your eye. About the man in the trench coat. As they walked by you, talking to the waitress Pacifica, you glanced without turning your head, the man in the trench coat, had six fingers on each hand. You starred at the menu, thinking that was so cool but didn't want to seem rude by starring at it.
You decided on a coffee, (however you like it) with some toast and eggs, just to start off the day before exploring the small town, hopefully before the sun sets. You told the waitress what you wanted, she took the menu and you decided to look at an old notebook or journal, from your astrology days. Simple constellations and little notes of star names, asteroids and things of the sorts.
A few moments later Pacifica brought out your food, you thank her and start eating, glancing at your notes a couple times just to keep your mind busy, you could trail off easy and would like to focus on something you understood. You finished eating, payed and left a good tip for the waitress, she deserved it.
Just before you got to the door you here someone call out "Wait miss! You dropped this!" You turn around and it was the little girl that walked in earlier, in the sweater. "Oh! Thanks kid." You say to her smiling. "No problem!" She gave you the wallet back and she strolled back to her table. You could swear one of the older men say something like 'you should have kept it' but you just chuckle to yourself and go back to your car.
You put your notebook back in the car and started to walk around town, it wasn't much past noon, probably not even 1:00 yet. You look down a road and saw a sign that stated 'Mystery Shack' in the form of an arrow, pointing down the road. It sounded like a tourist trap, but still seemed cool, so you began walking down the road, a few minutes later, you got there.
A tall roof of what once looked like a home. With a large sign that said 'Mystery Shack' but the 'S' had fallen off. You liked the old cabin, it looked cool and calm. Full of life and dull at the same time. You walked up to the door, it said 'tours at noon' so you were late to that adventure, but there was still a gift shop you could walk into. You opened the door with a loud creek.
Everything looked so cool, eyes in a jar, snow globes, bobble heads, everything a tourist would want, but since your moving into town hopefully, you don't get things a tourist would get. Behind the counter was a teenager, who looked around 16 or 17, with long red hair, and a plad green shirt. To the side was a large man with a dark teal shirt with a question mark on it, in a baseball cap, fixing a light. "Hello, welcome to the mystery shack, where the real question is why your here." The teen behind the counter said, in a joking manner. "Hah. Good one." You say hoping that was a reasonable response. You were never great at responding to people.
"You ain't from around here, are you ma'am?" She said questioning you. "Oh, no no- I'm not, I'm just trying to move in actually, gotta sleep in my car for a bit." You respond, rather awkwardly. "Oh, that leads to bad hair days everyday, I wish you luck." She said pointing the finger guns at you. "Thanks, I hope I can actually get a house."
Facing your whole body towards her now instead of just your head. "Well then I hope you can make enough money to get a house built. There are no more houses in town. Sorry if I brought down the spirits.. wait what's your name??" "Oh I'm Y/N, and really? No houses? At all? Well shhhhi- uhhh are there kids around, I don't like swearing around kids." You say looking around before swearing. "Not right now. The guy who owns the place went out to eat with his bro and great niece and nephew."
You think back a moment. At the diner? Was it the family at the diner that walked in? "Were they eating at the diner in the middle of town? I think I might've seen them." You say now feeling relived that you didn't swear infront of kids. "Yeah that one, also my name's Wendy. Nice to meet you." Suddenly you heard a small glass break, you twitch your head to the side and see the man that was changing the light bulb, dropped it. "Soos! Aw man. Mr Pines is gonna get mad. Find the dust pan I'll sweep this into a pile." She said grabbing a broom and sweeping up the glass as the man ran off, presumably to find a dust pan.
"Should I go..?" You say as Wendy was sweeping the pile. "You can if you want, I won't mind, bye lady." She said with another finger gun real quick and then back to sweeping. You spin around and go out the door, as you saw that family again walking up to the house, the man in the suit was heading to the gift shop door, where you just came from, and the other three walking into what you assumed to be a house door. You walk back into town and to your car, and take a small break before exploring the town more.
