Chapter 27

"I'm going to Alessandro's office if you need me" I say just before I get to the doorway while walking away I hear someone say, "I think she uses his office more than Elijah uses his" with a small smile on my face I continue walking in the direction of Alessandro's office.

I've been working for about 20 minutes when suddenly there is a knock on the door, not paying attention to anything I say a simple come in thinking I'm in my room and it's just one of my brothers.

Looking up I see a guy that looks around my age standing in the doorway, having a very strange look on their face. I look over his body to see if I can see a gun, this becoming a habit I do now with anyone I meet. As I'm looking I see that there is a gun and his hand is slowly reaching for it.

Trying to not make it noticeable I reach with one hand to my phone and call Alessandro making sure to turn down the sound, once that's done I stand up slowly trying not to make him feel the need to shoot me.

Making sure my blank face is on I stand up straight and clear my throat to get his full attention, his eyes snap to my eyes and he stares at me trying to see if I will give away any emotion.

"Who the hell are you and why are you here?" I ask trying my best to imitate Alessandro or really anyone from my family

"Who the hell am I? who the hell are you and why are you in capo's office" he asks seeming to get angrier

Before I can move anywhere he has his gun out and is pointing it at me. I seriously don't want to get shot, I mean maybe if I sit down then if I get the feeling he might shoot me I can just duck under the desk.

Thinking that Is a good idea I put my hands where he can see them and sit down, never once making him feel like he has the upper hand or that he can see my emotions

"Now if you would kindly shut up I would be able to tell you... and get that damn gun out of my face. I'm a teenager with zero self-defence training and I don't have any weapons" I really just don't have a gun in my face if I have to try and explain who I am to someone who could obviously kill me, I mean I'm assuming he works for my family and I'm sure they would have trained him to be able to kill someone with just his bare hands so him also having a gun does not help.

Just as he is about to put the gun down the door slams open with some of my family there. the boy just spins around and aims his gun at them but when he sees who it is he immediately puts it away and says a quiet apology while looking down.

Me being the fabulous person I am decided that I should speak now

"ahh brother can you please tell this person to not point his gun at me when I was just trying to help you" I say with a smile at the end

Everyone just looks at me blinking, not saying anything just blinking.

"wait what, the capo doesn't have a sister, he only has brothers" the mystery person says

"Alexander this is my sister violet, she just moved back in with us two weeks ago" Alessandro says with a scary yet blank look the same as all the rest of my family here

"what the hell... omg I'm so sorry I didn't know you were the capo's sister, if I had I wouldn't have put a gun on you" Alexander says with slight fear in his eyes

"It's fine, I was just praying Alessandro got here in time before you decided to shoot me" I say half serious and half joking about it

"yeah how did he know?" that little fear in his eyes now seemingly never there in the first place

"I called him as soon as I looked up and saw the look on your face and also your hand moving to your gun" I explain like this is a normal everyday conversation

Massimo turns to Alexander with a stare before he decides to speak after a little while, "why did you come here?"

"oh, I came here because I was giving the documents capo asked me to get" with the slight fear back in his eyes, like if he said the wrong thing he would be shot

Alessandro snaps his head back to Alexander after he was finished checking my body for any harm when he heard alexander

"what documents?"

"... the ones that you emailed me about earlier today" Alexander says back almost as soon as Alessandro stopped talking, I just shrink a little in my spot hearing what he just said

"Ummm yeah so about that" I interject their little staring contest, all heads now look over to me

"What did you do violet?" Alessandro asks seemingly surprised but also confused

"okay so while I was doing that thing that you asked me to do I kind of got sidetracked and saw something and I got interested so I kind of just emailed one of the people that I know could get it for me" I ramble trying not to get into trouble

"what were the documents about?" Gabriel this time asks

I don't answer instead just look over to Alexander silently telling him to give it to them and then look down. When they opened the folder and read the first couple of sentences then they just looked at me

"really violet, you wanted to look at this?" Giuseppe asks seemingly surprised I would even look at it In the first place.

"What? I find what happened interesting" I say now looking up at all of their shocked faces

"yeah, but like the plan of attack, we did when we were at war with the Spanish interesting. And also how you guys were at war with them and now your allies, I mean how does one even do that" I say speaking to them in the start but ending with me just mainly speaking to myself

The truth is the only reason I even wanted to learn about it was that it had something to do with the Spanish mafia, my best friend's family's mafia. I wanted to know that if I ever do see him again that my family won't hate him just because he is a part of the Spanish mafia. God do I miss him.

He was the kind of best friend that if you are even friends you become a part of his family. I would go over to his house almost all the time when I could and would stay there for hours just hanging out with his family and him. They are the only reason that I know what feeling loved for is like, what feeling safe is like.

When they had to move it broke my heart, we were so young back then I just wish they hadn't forgotten about me.
