I forgot to add this at the start, so I'll do it now.

I haven't read the books in a while, so Glimmer and Ruy are based off of my imagination. They could be the same as in the books, but I'm not sure.

Ruy jerked upright, letting out a sigh of relief as he took in his surroundings. It was still dark in the house in Mysterium, though he guessed that the sun would rise soon.

Glimmer was beside him, her breathing steady. Her black hair tumbled in soft waves across her pillow.

He smiled at her fondly, reaching out to gently poke her nose.

The Flasher stirred, opening her eyes.

"Morning," Ruy said. "Did I wake you?"

She shook her head, her hair rustling against her pillow. "No, I was mostly awake already."

She sat up. Pushing back the blankets, she hopped out of bed and padded over to the window. "Sophie's started using rubber bullets," she said.

"How do you know?" Ruy asked, giving her an amused look as he joined her at the window sill with a hairbrush.

"I followed her with one of Pixel's drones. She's in the Forbidden Cities, probably the work of the Black Swan." Glimmer grinned mischievously. "And she seemed quite friendly with Keefe Sencen."

"Matchmaking, are we?" Ruy gently pulled the brush through her hair, untangling the knots.

Glimmer shrugged. "It's what any friend does."

There was a peaceful silence.

The sun peeked out over the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the houses of Mysterium.

Glimmer leaned back into his chest, resting her head on his shoulder. "When will Sophie decide she wants to leave the Neverseen?"

"Will she ever?" Ruy asked.

"I want her to. And not just because we promised to stay until she leaves. I want Sophie to find someone special."

The two of them watched the sun climb higher into the sky.

Sophie was a symbol of hope.

One day, she would change the world.

They just had to hope it was for the better.

So it's a kinda short chapter, but the next one will be longer.

What do you guys think about Ruy and Glimmer?

See you next time and thanks for reading,

Jane.
