176 | Save A Friend

Start from the beginning

"Wow, this is Luna?" Keigo asks, stopping in front of her picture.

Max, Ari, and Ervin stopped as well, looking at the said portrait. The four of them stared at it, and for some reason, they couldn't look away. Max had her eyes, and like Max's, you could feel such great power coming from them. She was definitely a terrifyingly beautiful woman that had uncontrollable power.

"She's beautiful," Ari then says as this was his first time to finally see Max's mother in a closer look.

"She was," Max says, and his friends look back at him and saw that Max now has a sad smile on his face. They then looked at the picture beside Luna's, and this time, it was a picture of Max's father, Denzel Sinclaire. Looking at the two pictures, Ari and the others couldn't believe that these were his parents.

They then saw the empty frame just beside Denzel's, and Ari couldn't help but glance back at Max who was still staring at his mother's picture. That empty frame will one day bear Max's portait. Ari wasn't sure if in the future they'll still be friends, but he couldn't help but cherish their moment more now, knowing that there may be a time when they'll grow up and start drifting apart.

"Shall we go now?" Max then asks, immediately making his friends look back at him.

"Yeah, sorry, we just got a little distracted," Ari explains, and Max nods his head and finally leads them to his office.

Max heads inside his office first, and as soon as he gestured his friends to come in, they immediately rushed inside. Even Ervin, who looked like he didn't care about such things, quickly got inside too so he could see what Max's office looked like.

"Wow, this looks better than the oval office," Keigo exaggerates, making Max laugh.

While Ari and Ervin were looking out of the window, admiring the breathtaking view of the city, Max looks at Keigo and gestured at his computer, giving him permission to use it. Keigo's mouth opened wide in shock, but he immediately ran to his desk and sat in front of Max's computer without any hesitation.

"I'm hoping we can get into their CCTV cameras. You think you can do that?" Max asks, entering the password of his computer first so Keigo could use it.

"Holy shit, the security in this thing is top-notch, and you guys even built your own firewall. I bet you paid millions to whoever set this up. As expected to one of the biggest companies in the world," Keigo says, impressed by it because even he wouldn't be able to crack their system.

"Anyway, I just have to burrow your phone again and connect it with Felix's phone. I'll then check if he's connected to any internet or wifi in their mansion. With that I might be able to get into their system," Keigo explains, and Max nodded his head even though he wasn't entirely sure how he'll be able to do that.

While waiting, Ari then looks back at Max and tells him, "Max, I know I don't say this often, but you're really not a normal teenager aren't you?"

As soon as Ari said that, Ervin turns as well and hits him, making Ari wince. "What?! I was just saying the truth."

"Don't be rude," Ervin replies, but Max shakes his head and approaches his two friends. "It's fine," he tells Ervin. "Besides, I've already been aware of it. I've never really had a normal childhood either, so I guess for me, the thing you guys see as abnormal is...normal."

The office became quiet, so Ari cleared his throat and told Max, "Sorry, I think I was being insensitive."

"Hey, it's fine. Besides, I've been experiencing somehow normal things with you guys, like field trips, clubs, and pageants. There's nothing else I could ask for," Max says, making Ervin and Ari chuckle because they knew that none of what Max mentioned was normal to begin with. In fact, it might have only made Max's life more complicated, but they didn't have the heart to tell him.
