Eveleen's POV

I walked down the halls of the palace until I found a small sitting room. No one was around, so I curled up in a chair and stared at the letter in my hands. I was terrified to read it. A thousand possible scenarios ran through my mind as I stared at the elegant script on the front. I took a deep breath and opened the letter.

Ástvinur,

If you are reading this then my plan did not go the way I envisioned. It is my intent to seek out Erebus and rid you of this burden once and for all. I have no idea if I can accomplish this, but I cannot continue to sit by and watch you be attacked and suffer. I cannot bear the thought of your pain.

You are sleeping with the Russian and his lover while I write this, and I must admit I'm insanely jealous. I would give anything to hold you in my arms as your lovers do, but we both know this cannot happen. I need to admit to you that I know you are my soulmate. I have seen your face in visions for hundreds of years, darling, and when I discovered the barriers between us, it was devastating. I take solace in the fact that you are well-loved by your Destined one and the others.

If this is the last time I speak to you, Eveleen, please know that I love you beyond measure. I will give my life and soul to protect you. Please be safe, do not try to find me, and forgive me for any suffering I may have caused you.

Your Loki

I felt like my heart was shattering. At first, I was crying, then I was just furious. What the hell was he thinking? Of all the arrogance! Did he really think he could just waltz in and take on Erebus all by himself? Seriously? I swear if I find that man, I'm going to slap him silly! I threw back my head and screamed in frustration.

Several chairs, tables, and other items flew across the room. I stared in shock, trying to figure out what just happened. "What the feck?"

"Cailleach said your powers would be stronger in Fairie," Owen's voice came from the doorway. "Is it safe to enter?" I shot him a snarky look and sighed, uprighting a fallen chair and plopping down into it. "I take it the letter wasn't a good one?" he asked tentatively.

"Just your run-of-the-mill declaration of love and by the way I'm going on a suicide mission letter," I scoffed, swiping a tear away. Owen lifted a chair and sat next to me. "Do you think he's dead?" My voice was barely a whisper. I was terrified to think of the possibility.

"No, but I do think he's in trouble. Some of us have known all along how he felt about you. The fact that he didn't come running when you were hurt or in the Summerlands, just proves he couldn't come," Owen said, holding my hand in his. "What do you want us to do?"

My mouth gaped. He chuckled, "Tesoro, we don't leave family behind, and whether he likes it or not, he's family, so what do you want us to do?" I couldn't even answer him. I just threw my arms around him and sniffled out a weak squeak. Owen wrapped his arms around me tightly, letting me cry for a few moments, then he pulled me up, kissed my forehead, and walked me back to the main room without another word.

I was shocked to see Luke and North looking like they were about to fight when we walked in.

"You're fucking crazy, Luke! There's no way he's her chosen, he's a damned God!" North roared, getting in Luke's face.

"How many times do I have to explain this, brother?" Luke shouted with a hateful tone. "He's just as much her chosen as you and I are. Gabe, help me out here, you know I'm right."

Gabe held his hands up in a surrender motion, "You might be right, Luke, but I'm not fighting a pissed-off vampire. North won't believe us anyway until he fucking sees it for himself."

"Then he might want to get ready for a show," I yelled at all of them, "because we are going to find him. As Owen just reminded me, we don't leave family behind." I turned to face North, hands on my hips, "And, yes, North, he is my chosen. There are a million reasons why neither of us could admit or act on it, but none of that matters now. He ran off to try and take down Erebus all by himself. He did that to save me, and I'll be damned if I leave him to die!" The coffee table exploded as I screamed that last sentence. "Shite, sorry," I mumbled.

North brushed off parts of the table as he stared at me. "I'm sorry, Queen. I didn't mean to make you mad, it just doesn't make sense. How can you be soulmates to all of us and him? He's a freaking God. How does that even work?"

I sighed, running a hand through my hair, "Technically it doesn't. It shouldn't have happened. Gods aren't supposed to bond with mortals, Fae, or any other magical races, only other gods or goddesses. Then again, what are the odds of one Fae having fifteen soulmates? I don't think anything about my fate or all of yours follows any typical rules."

"What about the Council?" Marc asked nervously. "Loki said the Council of the Gods would kill you before they'd let you two bond."

I shook my head, "I don't know, but it doesn't matter right now. Even if I can never complete the bond with him, that doesn't mean I can just leave him to Erebus. Let's just cross one bridge at a time."

Silas was surveying the demolished table and smirked, "Not to change the topic, but Seirína, how did you blow up the table?"

I shrugged my shoulders. I really had no idea. Owen chuckled, "If you think that's bad, you should see the study down the hall. She tore it apart with a single scream." I slapped his arm. He gave me a quick kiss. "The increase in power from Fairie and our bond connections are starting to show. Under normal circumstances, she would have grown into the new powers slowly, but with the stone binding her and now having been removed, they are manifesting all at once."

"So what I'm hearing is don't piss off Valkyrie," Nate joked. I rolled my eyes at him as he blew a kiss at me.

Raven pulled me between him and Corey, "Nyet, what I hear is get malen'kiy voin excited and see what happens," he growled, licking my neck. I let out a squeak as my body shivered.

Gabe snorted, "Unless she blows up your junk." I hissed at him and flicked my wrist. The chair he was sitting in turned into a pile of sticks as he landed on the floor with a grunt. I covered my mouth to hide my giggles as he stared at me. "Just remember, little wolf, brats get extra punishments." My eyes widened, but I still giggled, then I stuck my tongue out at him. He gave me a wicked grin as I slapped my hand over my mouth, realizing what I'd just done.
