chapter twenty one
{ unedited }
A DAY HAD PASSED AND BELLA STILL HADN'T HEARD FROM MAX. She was trying really hard not to worry about it, to put it at the back of her mind, but she couldn't stop thinking about everything that could be wrong as she sat in the backroom of Scoops with Dustin, Steve, Robin and Brian who were all trying to figure out a way to get into the room holding the boxes, the glasses Max had gotten for her on her head. Bella had them on her for some sort of comfort but they weren't exactly doing anything.
Bella wasn't helpful in the slightest. She hadn't been since they started this whole translating plan. Bella knew it and she knew the others did too. She was always too distracted, too in her head, to do anything that could help them and she was just thankful they hadn't mentioned it yet.
"That keycard opens the door, but unfortunately, the Russian with this keycard also has a massive gun," Dustin reiterated from the night before as they tried to come up with a plan to get in. "Whatever's in this room, whatever's in those boxes, they really don't want anybody to find it."
"There has to be another way in," Brian said from the storefront, looking into the backroom through the glass windows that were opened. "There's always another way in."
"Well, you know..." Steve trailed off as he tossed his hat onto the table, it landing in front of Bella who met his gaze with a raised brow. "I could just take him out." He sounded awfully nonchalant for someone who'd never won a fight before.
