chapter nine
{ unedited }
BELLA HAD THE BINOCULARS TO HER EYES, PEERING THROUGH THE DEVICE TO THE FOGGY JUNKYARD BELOW IN SEARCH OF DART. She could barely see anything with the fog and the scraps all over the floor, her vision blurry and it wasn't helping that Dustin and Lucas wouldn't stop yelling for updates.
Bella took a deep breath, blocking out Dustin, Lucas and Max and focused solely on the low growling she could hear below, her gaze moving in the direction of it. Sure enough, Dart was climbing over one of the cars, now the size of a wolf. "Ten o'clock!" Bella called out as she peered over the tires. "At ten o'clock!" It was the directions that Dustin preferred and those she found easier to go by.
As Dart got closer, the chittering of it was heard loud and clear on the rooftops. Bella was pulled down and the binoculars were ripped from her hands and Max took her spot, looking down below at Dart. "You're sure that's not a dog?" Max asked, looking back at Bella who mirrored her look of disbelief but hers was at Max's stubbornness in believing the truth whilst Max's was for Dart being what it was.
"Seriously?" Bella asked, taking the binoculars back and resuming her position of keeping watch. She didn't bother looking back when Max went down the ladder into the bus, keeping her eyes on Dart instead.
