6 - Touchy Subject

Nova's POV:
I turned to Dyn.

"Fuck marry kill: me, Aldeena, Kaden"

He took a moment to think.

"Marry Aldeena, fuck Kaden and kill you"

I put my hand over my heart and joked

"Wow I'm so offended"

"Well you seem like a wildcard and I would not be able to handle that" he joked.

Leo nodded in agreement.

Dyn turned to Leo.

"Fuck marry kill: Nova, Aldeena, Kaden"

Leo took a moment to think and scanned our little group.

"Kill Kaden. Sorry dude I'm not into guys" Leo shrugged. "And then marry Aldeena and Fuck Nova"

I turned to him in a joking manner

"Woah buddy youd like a piece of me?" I wiggled my eyebrows before bursting out laughing. I decided to not add the word 'again' to the end of that statement as it was a touchy subject.

Leo turned a shade of tomato red before shaking it off and proceeding to ask Aldeena the magical question.

"Hmm marry Dyn, fuck Nova and kill you. Sorry Leo" she giggled.

Now Leo pretended to play the role of the offended.

After a few more rounds we decided to take a break as it was getting repetitive.

"Could you keep it down?" One of the other prisoners had asked.

The group and I glanced at each other and we decided to take a break.

"Well that was... definitely an ice breaker" said Kaden.

The rest of the group had shrugged.

I saw a figure move in the little window on the door, so I assumed it was a stormtrooper an decided to have a little bit of fun with it.

Focusing on the force, I was able to slam the stormtrooper into the door, leaving a decently sized dent.

Aldeena's eyes widened as Leo turned to me and gave me a 'what the fuck' look.

"Nova what the fuck?!" He said. I called it. That look was the most predictable thing in existence.

"I'm failing to see what I did wrong" I shrugged. I knew what I had done probably wasn't the best idea, but sometimes I'd play dumb just to press Leo's buttons.

"See this reckless bullshit you keep doing is gonna get you in trouble one day!" He responded.

"Me? Reckless?" I laughed it off. "Leo please tell me how reckless I was when I shot the man who tried to kidnap you. Now his brains have been splattered on that bar wall. Oh and we both know the night didn't end there " I wiggled my eyebrows.

Leo was fuming but he also became as red as a tomato before he stormed off to sit in another part of our prison transport.

Kaden sighed and buried his head in his hands.

"You two need to figure this shit out and stop overstepping because I can't keep playing mediator. Go talk to him for fucks sake" Kaden slammed his fist down on the floor.

I sighed. I glanced over at Leo who seemed focused on staring at the wall. I sighed and decided to make my way over to him.

Narrator's POV:
The other two turned to look at Nova and Leo and then back at Kaden with confused expressions on their faces.
"What Nova had brought up was true." Kaden sighed. "She shouldn't have brought it up though and I'm sorry you had to witness that"

"It's okay" responded Aldeena. Dyn just shrugged as if he didn't have a care in the world.

"Those two have a complicated friendship after what had happened. Long story short she used to run a bar and she ran it as if she was head of a crime syndicate. One day a man had tried to steal bottles of alcohol from her and had tried to kidnap Leo and in response with a pull of a trigger she splattered the kidnapper's brains and blood on the wall. What happened next in my opinion was a moment of weakness for both of them. He felt safe around her so he decided to stay the night with her. And next thing you know one thing led to another and they hooked up." Said Kaden.

"But what made them have this tension fueled friendship?" Asked Aldeena.

"That night. While it might've given them both the adrenaline rush and momentary pleasure it turned into a barrier in the friendship. It became a touchy subject. He had caught feelings for her despite the fact that the two of them disagree on many things. She didnt see him in that way and he would try his best to protect her to show he cares. He fears that her reckless ways are gonna get her killed. I mean I also sometimes worry about the risks she takes but you can't change the way someone was raised" Kaden shrugged.

"This storyline has been the most interesting thing that has happened to me in weeks" said Dyn.

"Damn buddy you live a boring life" joked Aldeena.

"Those two kept avoiding that awkward conversation so that's why I pushed her over there to go talk to him. I can't keep being in the middle of their bullshit" said Kaden. "The air between them was a ticking time bomb waiting to be set off"
