3 - Questionable Choices

Nova's POV:
My heart dropped. My body was paralyzed. I couldn't move from the sheer shock factor.

"Where are they? We were told that some of these people work here?!" Yelled one stormtrooper.

"Resistance is punishable by death." Stated another.

"What the fuck do we do?" Leo panicked

"Well what else are we supposed to do?" Cried the girl in the back corner.

"They'll kill us if we don't comply!" Added Kaden.

"What if i just run away?! They can't find me!" I said.

All of the people in that closet turned to look at me like I was the town idiot. Okay maybe I was.

"Are you insane? You'll become a wanted criminal and every bounty hunter will be after your head on a silver plate!" Said Leo.

Okay he did have a point.

"What if I use my powers against them?" I suggested, using my abilities to make a bucket levitate in the air.

"Just because you claim to have some sort of connection to the force doesn't mean you're some sort of powerful character!" Leo borderline yelled. "Besides, it's just a parlor trick! Remember how we would get people on the streets to pay to see you levitate their stuff?"

"Quit arguing! If we stay here any longer we'll all become a storage room full of corpses!" Said Kaden.

He pushed between me and Leo to get through and opened the door. To the stormtroopers surprise we all piled out of the storage room one by one awaiting our fates.

About five of us were escorted out of the building while the others stayed back and looked at us with pity. Sheer pity. I looked away, avoiding their pitiful gazes.

The stormtroopers handcuffed us in silence and then they pushed us out the bar door.

People slammed doors shut and closed blinds as we were guided down the street.

Pairs of curious eyes peeked out of windows between blinds.

I held my head low to avoid any more gazes.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a rock the size of my hand and smirked. Focusing on the force I was able to pick up that rock and hurl it at a stormtrooper.

Next thing you know a cracking sound was heard. An angry stormtrooper with a cracked helmet turned around to face us.

"Who did that?!" He yelled.

Leo gave me the death glare.

Kaden's eyes widened as they briefly made contact with mine.

Even though Leo gave me a hard time I knew he wouldnt rat me out. He honestly kept me in check sometimes.

"Someone had to have done it!" Yelled another stormtrooper.

The stormtroopers pulled out their blasters. They had us surrounded. A blaster or a few aimed at each of us.

Now morality, the moral compass. That's truly a gray area because not everything is always 100% wrong or right.

Hopefully karma will forgive me for this later, but I had to save our asses. Even if it meant putting someone else in danger. I locked eyes with the house on my left. Focusing my strength and the force, I was able to crack the window. Glass shards fell from the second floor window, which had gotten the attention of the stormtroopers, who had turned to face the window.

"The rock must've come from there!" Yelled one stormtrooper. The rest of them proceeded to shoot the window until there was nothing left of that window except for blaster made holes and bits and pieces of what used to be the wall

Leo's glare in my direction intensified as Kaden avoided my gaze at all costs.

The girl from the corner earlier was in shock as her eyes darted from the stormtroopers to the window and back.

"Now then." Said a stormtrooper. "Where were we?"

Next thing you know we were led into some small cramped room aboard a ship and locked in. There were 5 of us from the bar and about 9 other people from different parts of tatouine.

Their faces were full of pain and sadness. Some even had anger. Even shame.

I understood the feeling of shame. I had once been the owner of a bar, ran a small crime syndicate, and even earned myself several nicknames based off of the way I had dealt with people who were in my way. Oh god how I loved the nickname cherry haired menace as it fit me perfectly.

But now I was just a prisoner of the empire. I had been stripped of my hard earned nicknames, respect, and street cred as I sat here in a metal room with other unlucky people.

Once the stormtroopers were a safe distance away from our prison room, Leo threw his arms up in the air. Or as best as he could since we were all handcuffed at our wrists and ankles.

"What in the fuck was that?!" He shouted. "Were you trying to get us killed?!"

"Calm down Leo we're all still alive!" Responded Kaden.

"Was that you?" Asked the girl from the corner.

I buried my face in my hands.

A few of the people who weren't from the bar turned to look at me and then went back to staring at the ground.

"At the cost of some innocent person!" Leo argued.

"Well it was either them or us!" I yelled at Leo. This man got on my nerves sometimes

"Well we wouldnt have been put in that situation if you didn't use your parlor tricks to hurl that rock at the trooper!" Leo yelled.

He was getting on my nerves so next thing you know I sent a pebble to his face.

How's that for a parlor trick Leo?
