After you die

He's frozen for months. He won't, or can't, show any emotion whatsoever.

But after a while, he begins to break down alone in his room.

"I'm sorry," he whispers to the empty air. "I'm sorry for how I treated you. For how much of an asshole I was. You wanted...you deserved better than me." As tears fall, he murmurs, "I should die—I should have died instead. I deserve it."
