Hours later the Madrigal girls huddled together in Isabela's room with extra pillows and blankets
"Scary stories?" Mirabel smiled teasingly at Luisa who was already shaking her head "I get nightmares" She pouted
"But you know what won't give you nightmares?" Dolores smirked and slowly got up making Isabela roll her eyes
"Okay go get one of your books"
"Yay!" She bounced and seamlessly got one out of her dress
"Were you carrying that around all day?" Luisa raised an eyebrow
"No..." Dolores looked suspicious "Anyways here it is" She proudly showed them the book
"This might give you nightmares" Mirabel laughed looking at her older sister
Isabela giggled "Probably"
"Why? It has a happy ending"
"Okay, you can start now"
"But Isa you have to read it to us" Dolores almost threw the book at her
"Me? You're the one who wants this story"
"Come on prima, remember when we were little and you always read to us, you said that as the oldest it was your duty...Even if you and I are the same age " She chuckled
"I'm older by a few months!"
Luisa and Mirabel laughed "That's true Lola"
"Well as your little cousin ..." Dolores started talking in a baby voice "I so kindly ask, I beg if you could-"
"Ugh okay okay, I'll do it" Isabela snickered
They formed a circle around her and once they were comfortable she started reading
"Once upon a time there was a prince" Isabela clicked her tongue before continuing "He was set to marry a girl, but his heart belonged to another"
"Are you sure this has a happy ending?" Luisa glanced at Dolores
She nodded "It has the best ending"
"The girl who would soon be his wife was gorgeous and many men would give everything they had to be with her, but the prince had already fallen in love with a girl from the village, she had the kindest soul and always made him laugh. Why did he have to marry someone who did not make his heart flutter and brought the brightest color to his cheeks?"
She kept going until the ending "But the prince's family wanted him to be happy and let him decide his future, so he married the girl of his dreams and lived happily ever after"
Dolores wiped a tear and sniffed "I told you guys it has the greatest ending"
"Very original too" Isabela closed the book with a laugh
"Right?"
"I was being sarc-" Isabela glanced around "Uh.Yeah" She tried to lie to her cousin with a smile making Mirabel chuckle
"And the part were he describes how she makes him feel, it's just so heartwarming" Luisa added
"Exactly how I feel when I'm with Mariano" Dolores grinned but glanced at her cousin to make sure it was okay
"Ew but good for you" Isabela wholeheartedly smiled reassuring Dolores
"How about you guys?"
"What about us?"
"Has there ever been someone who's made you feel that way?"
"Nope" Luisa shrugged
"Eh I mean there's some who make me blush a bit but not like the whole falling in love thing" Mirabel explained
Dolores nodded and turned to look at Isabela
Isabela was silent for a moment "But feeling those things towards someone, can also just mean as a friend right?"
"Um I'm pretty sure if they make your heart flutter, give you butterflies, make you blush...It might mean you like them in more than a friend way"
Isabela looked down and started playing with her hair again
"So who is it?"
"What?" Her voice was quieter this time
"Is there someone who makes you feel that?"
"No" She frowned and cleared her throat "There isn't "
"Okay..." Dolores squinted playfully "Next story!"
The oldest stared at her unamused
"I'm kidding!"
"So what's next?" Mirabel let her head rest on Luisa's shoulder
"What if we-" Dolores was interrupted by someone knocking on the door
"I bet is abuela to quiet us down" Luisa whispered
"Come in"
"Hello there" Camilo poked his head in with chocolate all over his mouth
"What's up Milo?" Luisa waved politely
"Well I just want to start by saying this comes from the great kindness of my heart and shows that I have zero resentment it also proves that I'm the better person for doing this even if I didn't get invited to your sleepover"
"Okay get to the point" Isabela groaned
Camilo put a hand on his heart "I wanted to invite you girls to watch a movie with me...I also have snacks"
"Aw Camilo wants our company?" Mirabel teased him
"Antonio is asleep who else can I ask?" He smirked
"Um tío Bruno-"
"He's also slee-"
" 's rats" Isabela finished her previous sentence with a giggle
Camilo glared
"Well I'm in" His sister put a finger up
"Me too" Luisa was next
"What do you say Isa?" Mirabel looked at her
"Fine by me"
"Let's go!" Camilo smiled through his sticky teeth
"What movie is playing?"
"Well it's about a girl who secretly is a toad"
"Sounds interesting"
"Oh and Isabela I found another note for you" Camilo handed her the card
"Who is sending you things this late?" Dolores raised an eyebrow clearly curious
"I haven't opened it, have I?" Isabela chuckled and held the card behind her back
"Ooh do you have a secret admirer?"
"No...It's probably from a friend"
"Ah that's nice, my friends never write me letters" Dolores whined
"Maybe because you can hear them a mile away...That's how they tell you all the new gossip isn't it?
"Yes but it's a one way conversation, they can't hear me all the way over there"
"Lucky them!" Camilo crossed his arms
Dolores pushed him away as she laughed "Rude!"
While they were distracted Isabela quickly unfolded the note , she just couldn't wait until later.
