Chapter 100 Meetings of a Legitimate and Not So Legitimate Nature

 

‘Fine,’ frowned Draco.

 

Sinistra sighed, ‘I had heard of your family situation. Divorces are never easy on a child, nor I am sure that your former classmate is having your father’s child.’

 

‘I’m fine,’ bit out Draco.

 

He really wasn’t going into his family situation with a woman he barely knew.

 

Sinistra nodded easily accepting, ‘you might not want to talk now, but my door is always open if you ever do. And if your classmates give you any grief let me know.’

 

Draco nodded, ‘thank you, Professor.’

 

‘Now, onto your classes,’ Sinistra said. ‘You are currently down for Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Runes and Arithmancy. As you know Astronomy is now an optional subject so if you want to continue with that you will have to drop another subject.’

 

Draco nodded, ‘I know. I want to drop Care.’

 

With Hagrid teaching it, it was useless. Anyway, he had only chosen it because it was the best of a bad lot. Divination was a waste of time and Muggle Studies was abhorrent the way they taught it at the moment.

 

‘Can I exchange that with Duelling,’ Draco said. ‘And Arithmancy with Politics.’

 

As much as he liked Arithmancy he knew that politics would be more useful for him when he took over from his father. And even before then because arithmancy was useful in spell creation. But, there were only certain careers which it would be useful for.

 

Sinistra nodded, ‘that all seems to in order.’

At the end of the week Filius had the weekly staff meeting. He gritted his teeth when Umbridge sat down beside him making a point to sneer at his small stature. As angry as this treatment made Filius he knew that responding would only confirm her opinion of him and question his suitability as Headmaster. Filius was too new at the job to risk anything no matter how hateful the woman was.
