"it's been a while haha...how have you been h-hyung?" the omega fidgeted, eyes looking everywhere but the person in front of him. the air felt awkward.

of course it would be.

because now, hoseok wasn't just an omega now. he was a marked one.

jeongguk, despite the aching feeling in his heart, was happy for his hyung. "i've been doing well, what about you?" hoseok's voice was...it was soothing to hear. it sounded the same way it did when they first met.

full of life and energy.

he should be happy that his hyung is finally getting the love he deserved, even if it wasn't from him. jeongguk bit his lip, but hoseok was his first.

"i don't know. it's hard getting used to you not being there hyung." jeongguk admitted with a small voice.

hoseok couldn't help the sigh that left his mouth, "i see." was all he could say. how was he supposed to respond to that? he had thought that jeongguk, like the others of his pack, moved on. found peace with themselves and were ready to let go of their overextended grasp on hoseok.

once again they were enveloped in an uncomfortable silence. the air becoming even heavy and harder to breath. "i'm glad that you agreed to meet up. i-i'm happy for you hyung. i really am..."

hoseok raised an eyebrow, "but..?" there was always a but.

"but i'm selfish hyung. you were mine first! i don't- i don't understand..." jeongguk had stuttered over his own words.

hoseok moved to comfort the other in an attempt to stop an avalanche of emotions but was instead stopped by the other omega himself. "no i'm okay. i'm sorry, i shouldn't be like this."

jeongguk looked mature, wiping his tears and immediately composing himself. hoseok couldn't help but feel a little proud at how jeongguk was finally learning to cope with his emotions rather than dump them all out on a table.

"hyung, i'm here to make up with you. i want to- i want to be friends again. please, i'll make up to you for everything. we all will."

we?

hoseok blinked a couple times, confused. "oh. i was-okay i'm fine with being friends again. but nothing more than that."

jeongguk's eyes brightened like a light and he cheered, reaching over to embrace hoseok. hoseok didn't know how to feel. he could give them a chance, just one chance to fix things. maybe not go back to how they were but to start somewhere new.

friends was all he wanted to be now.

"thank you hyung! i'll tell hyungs back home." jeongguk had picked up his phone and was already typing away at a message furiously. the laugh that left hoseok's lips couldn't be stopped and soon the two omegas were giggling together.

"take care hyung. let's-let's keep in touch!" jeongguk waved as he walked away.

for some reason, it felt as if over the past 2 years jeongguk had changed. he was no longer an emotional bomb ready to be set off, he was no longer treated like a child by his pack and was finally maturing after all these years. hoseok couldn't help but let a smile over take his face.

in a way he had changed too. leaving his pack, becoming an omega and joining another. he had found confidence, found peace with himself and found love. the crushing feeling of worthlessness was not forgotten, but rather cherished.

that worthlessness was turned into worth, the struggles of before were now moments he's come to be unafraid of because now he was not alone.

"come on my little omega, let's go home." so as he walks hand in hand with his new pack, he doesn't look back to the pain of the past.

he just smiles and walks into his future which now seemed to glow like the stars of the night.

the feeling of worthlessness is nothing but a fleeting feeling.
