Rule 1: Daydreaming

August 18 2008, the first day of year 7.

My first day of year 7 was, as I would say, boring. I sat at the back at the class and followed rule number UNO! Daydreaming. Whenever you feel like ‘damn, this lesson is boring!’ just lean forward into your table, look at the teachers face and let images flow into you’re head. On the first day, I dozed off so badly, that when I went back into focus, Mrs. Bibiton had as if magically appeared in front of me. It was geography and damn, that lesson was boring! Some words came out of her mouth but what was I kidding, her old rusting lips were making in-audible sound. After some dogs barking in the background and some more lip movements, it was time for break-time. I went out looking confused, and then a 4ft11 boy came towards me, I was quite surprised to se this Somali approach me. “Oi, Are you new here?” he said, I instantly recognized his English accent, phew, ‘I thought I was the only one’ I thought to myself. “Yeah,” then on that day, I made a friend for life, someone I knew I would be soon taking over the school with. “Where you from?” I asked him, “England, you?” he replied, “England, south-east London to be precise,” I muffled, “Yeah… Whatever,” he retorted, quite rude he was, but that’s the English spirit I guess, I probably would’ve said the same…probably.

The next few lessons were quite boring as well, it was just teachers getting used to the new kids. I kept using rule 1 precisely, making sure I done it perfectly. After some lessons, I noticed some chick looking at me, I won’t lie, I was looking at her back. She was this mixed-race girl with the brownest brown hair I ever saw, and the lightest brown eyes. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t talk to her, at least not now.

August 19 2008, ‘You’re from England?’

Word was spreading around that two new English boys had joined the school, and it was me and mussy  (a name I would learn to call him later), well it was true, and we were the new topic in everyone’s tongues. Wherever our feet trod, we heard the words ‘Hey, is that the new English guys?’ or ‘Wow! They’re kinda cute!’ and we couldn’t blame them, I mean have you seen us!

Second day of school was all the same as the first, boring.

August 25th 2008, ‘WTF is Arusha?’

You might of heard of Yosemite National park but this woman, this conniving old nan told us we were going to someplace called Arusha. I didn’t consider it at first, but then I heard it was for 5 days! I was destined to go, the date was set, October 8th 2008 was when we were going to Arusha, I couldn’t help but imagine it and on top of that, I heard that hot mixed-race chick was gonna be there! I couldn’t help but imagine Me and Her, side-by-side, the way it was supposed to be…I suppose.
