Arc 2 Paths are bound

It was later that Shi Shuan cracked open his bloodshot eyes with inhumane effort. Unstable vision got the floor once further, once closer. He frowned and squinted his useless eyes. When he tried to move his head hurt like it was splitting apart with constant fuzzy buzzing noise filling his ears. Heave you heard a mosquito? Then he heard a thousand of mosquitos near his ears. He gave up on moving, gnashed his teeth and waited for the sensation to go away.

His head hurt him like that only once, that is when he jumped off the bridge head-first into the water. He lost consciousness from the impact, so he doesn't remember clearly if it hurt same or worse.

After what felt like eternity his mind cleared a bit and still fresh memories poured at him like a bucket of cold water. He warily scanned his surroundings. But what was there to see? Four wooden walls with bare floor and one tiny obscured window. The room was continuously moving on a rough road and tossing his limp body around nonstop. He counted to three and pushed himself up to lean his back against the corner. He panted heavily as his whole body screamed for him to not move. His vision blackened for a moment but he stubbornly kept awake. And when he calmed down he took a look at the view outside the window.

Silver moon was reflected in the lake's surface. There was no big buildings or even hunter's hut as far as his eyes could see. Only endless dark forest.

'I'm screwed.' He thought.'Why didn't I study geography instead of ridiculous magic?!' He had no idea where he was taken, but he was certainly far from the capital.

'Awake?' Shi Shuan jumped like electrocuted.

He wasn't alone in here. His eyes adapted to the dim light and showed a person lurking in the darkest corner of the box. A man's face was covered in various scars and shadows making him look like an old man experienced in all kinds of life's hardships. The rest looked common: plain brown eyes, medium stubble and short auburn hair brushed to the side.

A blade glittered in his muscular hand. He was shaping something with a small curved knife. The man did the last touch-ups and locked his spine-chilling gaze on Shi Shuan.

'Behave.' He grunted stabbing knife into still shapeless thing harder, 'Or not. That's for you to decide.' Then he returned to his amusement.

'What a nice and talkative guy.

'You won't be able to use your magic.' He added after a while, as if he forgot.

His power wasn't of any use anyway, so he wasn't concerned. He was rather going for a surprise attack, throwing himself like a madman, but that was until he noticed the knife.

'Who are you?' He said calmly, swallowing his fear.

'No point in panicking.'

'Deicide.' He put a part of this shapeless thing into his his mouth.

'There is something like that too?' Shi Shuan made a strange face.

He man chuckled making his hair raise.

'You really thought so?' The man threw him a ridiculing sideway glance and returned to carving shapeless thing, 'Believe what you see fitting.'

His mocking tone irritated Byakko and the more his blood boiled the more his head throbbed. Hence he didn't even talk back and closed his eyes to quietly endure the pain.

He felt a gust of wind on his face and his eyes shot open at once. Right before his eyes appeared a pice of foreign fruit pinned to the wall with a still vibrating knife.

'Eat.'

He hesitated but in didn't take long to take what was given to him. He was starving and felt weaker than a fly. He put a viscous fruit into his mouth. It was awfully sour and left bitter taste after swallowing. But it was still food so he forced in down his stomach.
