Emily's POV
We just got home from the doctors and now we were waiting on the social worker to show up.
Mara was on the couch with JJs phone still. She already forgot about the shots but JJ and I were told that she may develop a fever later and just feel a little down.
"We definitely shouldn't let her on the phone for too long" I tell JJ and she nods, Mara had been on her phone since back in the doctors office
"I know, but she had a stressful day and it's about to get even more stressful, I think we can let her have it for now and I'll take it after the social worker comes" she says and I nod and wrap my arms around her waist
"It will all be okay. She is happy. She is safe. They have no reason not to let us continue fostering her" I assured her and she smiles and kissed my lips and we walked out to the couch to explain to Mara what was about to happen in the next 10 minutes
"Mara, come sit" JJ says and Mara climbs into her lap and she takes the phone and places it on the coffee table
"What wrong?" She asked
"Nothings wrong baby girl, but we need to talk to you.. you remember Amani from Seattle?" JJ asked and she tensed up
"I don't want to go back to bad man" she cries and holds onto JJs shirt
"Mara hey, you're not going anywhere. I promise. Today, someone different is coming and we are just going to show her around" I say and she looks at me as if she was deciding if she wanted to believe me or not
"Really?" She sniffles
"Really." I smile just as someone knocked on the door
"I'm scared" Mara whispered and JJ kissed her head and I went to open the door
"Hi, I'm Delilah with social services," she smiles
"Emily, please come In" I say and step back to allow her to come in and shit the door behind her
She followed me into the living room where JJ was standing with Mara hiding her face into her neck
"Hi, I'm Delilah, we spoke on the phone?" She questions and shook JJs hand
"Right, we did" JJ smiles
"Can you say hi?" JJ asked Mara and she shook her head
"I'm sorry, she is shy and timid with new people, she didn't have a good experience with her last social worker" JJ explained
"It's really not a problem, I spoke briefly with Amani, just some things about her last foster home" she says and JJ and I both roll our eyes
"I see that is a topic we should talk about later" she says and we nod
"So how about you just show me around, where Mara sleeps and I am hoping to have a conversation with Mara and you both but I do understand if Mara isn't comfortable I don't want to push her" she says and we smile, definitely thankful for maras wellbeing
We all walked Delilah through the apartment, shower her everything and stopped in on maras room
"This is beautiful Mara" she compliments and mara picks her head up and smiles
We walked back out to the living room and JJ convinced mara to stay in her room and play while we talked to Delilah
"So I just have a few questions" she starts
"I just want to double check all medications and alcohol are in a place where mara can not gain access to?" She ask
"Oh, yea. The alcohol is in the cabinet above the fridge and medications are on the top shelf in our bathroom. Do you need us to show you?" I asked
"Please? Just a formality" she tells us And we nod, taking her back to our room to the bathroom and then the cabinet above the fridge
"Thank you" she smiles and we all sit down at the dining room table
"I have a few forms here for you to sign, just to continue your fostering that is if you do want too?" She ask
"Yea yea of course, we plan on adopting her" JJ says and Delilah smiles
"I thought so but I did have to ask, did you have a timeline? I know a lot of parents want a trial period when fostering to adopt" she explains
"Um, we're not worried about the trial period. I think that we want to just go through with it?" I question, and look at JJ, knowing it's what she wants
"I can put a good word in. I do think that this is a wonderful environment for her. The adoption process can take a while so if you would like we can start it" she says
"Umm yea" JJ nods and squeezes my hand and Mara comes into view standing at the end of the hall
"Come here sweet girl" JJ smiles and opens her arms for Mara to run into them and JJ sat her on her lap
"Mara, do you like it here?" Delilah asked her
"Yea, Emmy and JJ nice" she tells her and starts playing with my wedding ring
"And you want to stay here with them?" She asked and Mara smiles
"Forever" she smiles big
"I think that is a wonderful plan" Delilah says and we all stand up
"You have my card, if you need anything or have any questions please don't hesitate to call" she tells us, after we thank her and she leaves we head back to the living room
"That went good" I admit and JJ smiles and takes my hand
"Yea, it really did" she smiles and Mara hands JJ her phone
"I can play?" She asked
"Not right now, you played it a lot today, Emmy and I have a surprise" she says
"Surprise?" Mara attempts to say and we nod
"You remember Penelope? She is coming over tonight" I smile
"Penny?" She asked with a smile on her face
"That's right baby, and someone new. His name is Spencer and he can do magic!" JJ says and she smiles

Just after dinner Penelope and Spencer arrived. We told them to wait until after she eats so it wouldn't make her anymore nervous
"Spence has some magic tricks he wants to show you" JJ tells Mara, Spencer was next to me on the couch while Penelope was in the chair and JJ was sitting with Mara
I held my arms out for her and JJ convinced her to come over, so she did. Mara walked over to me and allowed me to pick her up and sit her in my lap, while Spencer showed her his trick and she was laughing trying to figure it out.
I'm glad we decided to do this. All of it. And I'm glad we were able to start introducing the team to her. Spencer and Penelope were easy. It's Derek, Rossi and Hotch we will have problems with. Derek is muscular and looks mean but is a big softie. Hotch and Rossi both just look intimidating.
I smiled as Mara started giggling again and I looked over at JJ just as she was taking a picture
'I love you' I mouthed and she smiled
"I love you too"
