Emily's POV
We just arrived at the hospital and we parked next to Maya and followed her in to the hospital while Mara clung to JJ
The entire walk neither Maya nor JJ had said anything to each other
We reached the labor and delivery floor and instantly spotted the familiar brunette,
"Bella? Is everything okay?" Dr.Deluca ask Maya coming over to us
"Can you run a quick DNA test? I know you're working but-" Maya began
"Of course, for the bambina?" She ask
"No, for JJ and I" she says hesitantly and Carina looks between the two
"Okay, just follow me and i will get to it" she smiles and and we all follow her to a room
"Do you want the blood work or swab?" She asked
"Which one is quickest ?" Maya asked
"I can have your blood test in the next hour if I rush it" She answers
"Is that okay with you?" Maya asked JJ and she nodded
"Perfetto! I will be right back" Carina smiles and walks out the door
It was once again complete silence for the few minutes while Carina was out of the room, neither Maya or JJ would look at each other,
JJ was nervously bouncing her knee which also seems to calm Mara from new nerves of being back in the hospital
When Carina finally came back in she quickly drew both of their blood and walked out
"Do you want to talk?" JJ ask and Maya sighed. I get where she is coming from. She spent her entire life with her parents, thinking she was born and raised in Seattle, now some person she doesn't know shows up telling her than she wasn't born in Seattle and to top it off she's adopted
"Yea, I want to understand" Maya says
"Okay, so I actually just found all this out not even a week ago so I'm still a little fuzzy on everything but I do have most of it" JJ says nervously and I reach over grabbing her hand while she began to talk
"So my dad or our dad, died when you were two,'I would have been 13. After that mom started changing for the worse, leaving me home alone with my baby sister," she says and takes a breath before continuing
"One night you were sick, just a fever. But sometime in the middle of the night mom came home and took you in an ambulance, she came back the next morning and told me you were dead" JJ says, her voice cracking slightly
"So in return I spent 22 years thinking that it had been my fault. Until recently I confronted her about you being very much Alive and she told me that the day that she came home alone she had given you to a couple who promised to take you far away from Us. Saying she could deal with a toddler" She says and looks to the ceiling, blinking away the tears
"So um, yea" JJ chuckles nervously
"So you're saying that your mom, or what ever, just gave away her 3 year old daughter after a faked death?" Maya ask
"How is that even a thing?" She sighs
"She had contacts at the hospital, she is a retired nurse" JJ explains
"And where is she now?" Maya ask
"Currently in holding at the precinct but I have to decide weather I want to have her charged or just release her" JJ says
