He stood there in shock

He stood there in shock. Devil clawed at his mind, begging to hunt down her angelic scent and slaughter the ones who took her.

But that's probably what they wanted. He had to be logical. But that didn't mean he couldn't be ruthless.

"What's wrong with you?" The vampire king, Cassius Hemlock spoke, watching the King with worry.

Syfas didn't respond but started taking quick strides towards the castle doors, Cassius matching his pace with ease.

Eventually, the two found the room where Slate was beginning to wake up from unconsciousness. He rubbed the forefront of his head until it hit him that he had failed to protect his Queen.

He heard the sound of quick footsteps and saw the King, in between guards, walking towards him with anger, frustration but most prominently, worry.

"What happened." He grabbed Slate by the collar and stood him up.

"I-. I was taking the Queen to the safe place but... One of the guards hit me with something." He spoke sorrowfully. "I'm sorry, My king."

He took a step back and sighed.

"Who was it?" He questioned.

"Bruce Fern." Slate replied.

Syfas' anger levels rose, a low-level guard took his mate. The thought was just preposterous. He wouldn't act alone, there's no way he could get through security, even if he was a guard.

New guards were limited to certain areas.

"Was there anyone else?"

"I only saw Bruce, but I could smell another."

"When?" Cassius spoke up.

"When what?"

"What time was it when you got knocked out, relatively?"

"Um the last time I checked my watch, it was 14:50."

"It's 15:10 right now. They may still be close."

Syfas wasted no time in barking out orders, stomping his way through his golden gates, analysing the land in front of him.

"Where are you, my little rose?"

The Queen laid peacefully despite the rocky journey ahead of her. The old car released toxic smoke whilst the wheels unstably rolled down the uneven path.

They weren't too far from the castle, easily being able to get caught.

Luckily for them, they covered their tracks, well except for their faces.

One guard drove a car with the Queen but the other guard drove without her. Providing two sets of tire tracks. One leading to the head of organisation of the kidnapping and the other a false hope.
