Yesterday was such a blast and everyone had an amazing time at the surprise party. Especially, Shanaya was overwhelmed as her parents attended her big day and we threw a surprise party for her birthday. Everyone returned home safe that night. We didn't get to attend the after-grad party because of the surprise we planned for Shay. None of them complained about it, and that's why I love these people whom I call 'friends'.
I have nothing planned for the day and so I might take a walk in the park later this evening. Or spend time with my Grandma. She was pissed at me for not calling her earlier. And just like any other grandchild, I was able to cool her down with just a small gift that I bought her.
I love grandparents, or anyone who's their age, for that matter. We say it's the second-childishness stage, and that's the beauty of life. It's so mesmerizing to see someone who has watched and walked through every path of life act as if they never got it that part yet. It's like someone who has worked in the theaters- who knows how things work in there, but also gets excited when we say, 'We gonna watch a movie' - like a kiddo.
I leave my room with a sigh and get downstairs to see if we got anything edible in our fridge. The pastel walls of our home make me feel at peace even though there's none. Ha-the irony of the house. The old, almost worn-out teakwood creak beneath my feet as I take one step at a time. My grandma has been asking my dad to fix them for the past 2 years and still they remain the and same-only getting older as each day passes.
"Paati, can you get the delivery from Amazon?"
My wonderful-lazzyass brother shouts from his room.
"Paati won't receive the parcel and neither will I. If you don't want the delivery guy to curse you and return your parcel , then come down and get them, by yourself!"- I shouted back.
I went to the kitchen and took a bowl that was placed upside down on the countertop. There were some leftover Lays from a few days back. I emptied it into the bowl and broke them into small pieces. Added some onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves with some spices, finishing with a touch of lemon.
That's how you learn to make snacks- when there's no food and no one around to make one.
The door-bell rang, making me huff in annoyance. It must be the Amazon delivery guy.
"Siddu, I think it must be the delivery guy!"
I opened the door while shouting this as loud as I can, so that the dumbass could hear it beyond his speakers, which he's using right now.
"Hey Lee"
"Shay, you didn't say you were gonna come over."
"Yea, but I thought I can come here whenever I want to?" she gave a confused look, because that's how it has been for almost a decade now.
"But if you would've informed me in prior, then I might have swiggy-ed something for us. We have nothing to eat right now except my home made lays puri." I gave a sheepish smile.
"Don't worry, mi amigo, we still can order something."
"Hey Shay, when did you start with the delivery jobs?"
"What?"–she seemed genuinely confused.
"She didn't. I called you because I thought this might be your guy- Sorry"
He gave me a glare accompanied with a smack on my head.
"Ouch."
"Remember this next time, before you call me."
"Oh-"
"How can you beat her like that kanna, she's your sister."
All our heads turned to see my grandma making her way to the hall from her room.
"Huh? How can you?"
"But paati, she called me to get my delivery even before conforming."
"It doesn't matter. Keep in mind- no matter what- do not hit your sister. Do you understand?"
"Okay paati."
"Very good; and don't worry, I'll get the parcel when he comes. You guys continue your works. Don't waste time, it's precious. And-"
She hugged Shanaya and said,
"Welcome putta, did you eat something for the breakfast? Can I make something for you?"
"Achoo, no paati, I'm fine. I just came to see you all."
We hugged our paati and went to our respective rooms.
"So, do you have plans tonight Shay?"
"Yes, actually. Ajay suggested meeting me again."
"What? Really?- that's amazing Shay. So what did you say?"
"Maybe I might say yes. Haven't decided yet. Thought I'll ask you."
"I'll say, if you think he wouldn't be a threat of any kind and if you really want to meet him, then go ahead."
"Yea, I think he's a nice guy. But.....let's see how this goes. I don't want to rush into anything."
"Exactly. So what you gonna say?"
"Im gonna say yes and meet him tonight at the same club we met the first time. Sounds good?"
"Yup."
"Yay, you go gurl!!"

I received a text around 10 pm and I checked to see it was Shanaya.
Shanaya: Aliaaa, I'm back from the meet.
Alia: How did it go?
Shanaya: It went really gooooooddddddd !!!!!!!!!!!
Alia: I assume really well, by this enthusiasm?
Shanaya: OFC! We met at the same club like as planned. He brought a friend and so did I. I took Tanya with me, just in case. And we really had an amazing time. And guess what? We weren't even drunk. We had a wonderful talk without drinking, which sure is an excellent sign for me- Right?
Alia: YUP. And?
Shanaya: So, in total, it went really well. And might even meet again XD.
Alia: WOW 😍
Shanaya: Anyway, cya hon. I'm feeling tired already XD Goodnight!
Alia: Goodnight!
With that said, I turned off the lights and plugged in a song. I slowly drifted off to sleep as Lost boy kept playing on loop in the background.
