Hey! My name is kai.
Im nonbinary and use they/them pronouns.
I've been out for about two years, (though that isn't even a requirement for being queer in the first place,) and I wanted to compile my experience into something that might be of use.
So here's a compilation of advice/thoughts/experiences/writings. It includes a lot of advice for navigating life while existing outside the binary boxes of gender, as well as my thoughts on my own identity and experiences about gender.
I've tried to make the tips in this guide as general as possible and not too gender specific. It feels like a solid majority of trans content is geared for transmasc folks, and that severely underrepresents and pushes away transfemme folks as well as nonbinary people. So this guide isn't geared towards amab or afab folks in particular- its for everyone.
Just so you know, my experiences in no way are the accumulation of every trans/nonbinary person out there! As a white AFAB person, I hold a ton of privilege within the trans and nonbinary community. So my words are not meant to speak for everyone at all. Taking this into consideration, please take my words with a grain of salt. they're not strict guidelines for anything
This is not a "guidebook for the right way to be nonbinary/trans."- there isn't even a right way to be nonbinary/trans in the first place. Take the bits of advice that help you the most and leave the rest
Thank you! <3
