"Ang tagal mo namang makabalik,"
Sumbat ko kay Ate pagkabalik niya sa unit. Nakanood na 'ko ng 2-hour long na movie at lahat lahat, wala pa rin siya. It took her at least four hours to come back.
"Urgent, e. Job application 'yon," she said while taking off her shoes.
I nodded, "Alis na 'ko mamayang 5PM, ah. May pupuntahan pa 'ko."
We just bonded after that. We watched a movie together and we ended up laughing so hard by the end of it. I wished I could stay a bit longer, but I still had to take a cab to go home, and then study for a quiz on Monday.
I got home by seven o'clock in the evening because there were no cabs I could book. May heavy traffic pa. After changing into comfy clothes, my phone rang.
"Hello?"
No one answered.
"Hoy, sino ka ba?" I asked the caller since his number had no name on my phone.
[Bella.] That was when I panicked when I heard the man's voice. How the hell did he get my number?
"Caden?" I asked. "How'd you get my number?"
He chuckled on the other line, [Stupid, you texted me first, right? How did you get my number?]
"I have my ways," I smiled. "Anyway, what's up? Bakit ka tumawag?"
[Nothing. I just wanted to make sure this was your number,]
Hala, bakit? Ano ba 'to, late night calls tapos magpupuyat pa 'ko dahil sa kanya? Ay, sayang tulog ko sa kanya, girl.
"Hmm, okay," maikling sagot ko.
[You sound busy. Naistorbo ba kita?] he asked, sounding genuinely curious.
Okay, medyo kinilig ako d'on, ah. Kalmahan mo, Caden.
"No, not really. I just got home and right now, mag-aaral sana ako for a quiz but no worries, hindi ka naman istorbo,"
Para naman kaming close. Teka lang naman. Ano na Caden? Did you fall for my charms already?
[Don't tell me you went out for a drink again. Masisira na atay niyo niyan.] His remark somehow made me laugh.
I chuckled, "No, I went out to see my sister. Ikaw? Busy ka ba?"
[Hindi. Boring din pala kapag ginagawa lahat ng papers nang maaga. Wala nang magagawa, e.]
"Mag-eengineer ka, 'di ba? You told me you're taking Computer Science," I asked.
