Chapter 9 (Phantom thief)

After leaving Yuuto and his harem unconscious on the street, I went back to the Adventurer's guild and said,

(Y/N): Any other guy from my world, wanna tango with me?

That's when all the guys who had at least three either female members sulk in their place trying their hardest to not stand out.

(Y/N): Good, looks like I don't need to deal with any more idiots from my world.

That's when Kazuma and his party came into the guild.

Aqua: I want to have some beer!

Kazuma: What happened in here? And also, why is there just a massive dead body of a toad there?

(Y/N): Ah, just a little scuffle, don't need to worry about it. I hope...

Kazuma: Uhh yeah... anyways, we came here to finally take on a quest after moving into a new place...

(Y/N): Oh wow! Congrats! Anyways, back to business, Lana, I want to collect my 500,000 Eris!

Lana: Ah- y- yeah sure. I already prepared it for you...

(Y/N): C'mon, why are you acting so scared around me? Am I that intimidating that it makes you stutter?

Lana: Well, you see... Yuuto, the guy who you beat was a rising star who took on the hardest quest with relative ease and seeing you take him on, along with his slaves with relative ease is what's so intimidating, and your just rubbing it off like it's nothing...

(Y/N): Relax! He's fine, the worst thing that could happen to me is if he gathers a bunch of other cheat skill users and then they proceed to do a manhunt of me! And with someone of his intelligence, I doubt he can lead a group of others!

After taking the Eris from her, whilst also counting the dead toads, the amount of money I received was a total of:

(Y/N): Aw yeah, this is happening! Cmon Eris, Yunyun, let's leave for the day!

As we were leaving, the entirety of the guild became lively again, welp, I probably did deserve the cold shoulder on that one!

Eris: Hey, (Y/N)?

(Y/N): Yes, what is it Eris?

Eris: During that encounter, I felt a certain spark of rage in you... why is that?

(Y/N): Well, it's because seeing such a douchbag trying to convert you into his slave harem is not my cup of tea, not by a long shot. Also, seeing a guy trying to pick up you is a crime in itself...

Yunyun: A- ah! (Y/N), I never knew you h- h- had these feelings for us!

She said, visibly blushing a deep shade of red.

(Y/N): Nah, it's just because those types of guys in Isekai manga grinds my gears! And seeing one in real life and being able to punch him has release so much satisfaction that not even the most potent drugs can even hope to accomplish.

Yunyun: Ah, I see...

She said, audibly sounding disappointed.

(Y/N): Let's just end this conversation, for now, we've gotten our money, and now it's time for some training with you!

(After a few days later)

As I woke up in the middle of the night to the opening of a window, I slowly rose from my bed, rubbing my eyes. But when I checked over to the window, what was supposed to be Eris' side of the room instead had an empty bed, her nun clothes and an open window through the dark city.

It looked as if the perpetrator hadn't gone too far, so, donning my gear and my throwing weapons and trusty pole, I jumped onto the roof, running through the night sky under the bright moon. And then, I saw it, a dark shadowy figure was running across the rooftops, seeming to be female because of the overexposure of skin and the thin figure that was wearing the clothes.

The woman then jumped high into the air created a blinding light that prevented me from seeing for a few seconds, throwing my weapons everywhere to try and cover myself, and then when I looked back, she was gone!

(Y/N): Goddammit!

And then, out of nowhere, I was bonded by magic like rope material that prevented me from breaking from.

(Y/N): So, you're the elusive phantom thief I heard about from the Royal Capital huh?

Thief: I am merely balancing this world to prevent it from falling into chaos.

She said in a familiar-sounding voice.

(Y/N): What the hell then, I get why stealing god items would make sense, but to also steal the wealth of royalty? Then that goddess who governs this world must be overly incompetent to allow such income inequality!

Theif: Oye! What are you saying! I- I mean, she isn't overly incompetent! Maybe it's just a life cycle of how society runs! Like your world!

(Y/N): How do you know of my world?

Thief: Urk, I mean, I have been travelling the world for a decade! of course, I know this stuff!

(Y/N): Yeah, yeah sure. That's a good excuse, thief, or should I say Eris!

Eris: WHAT! HOW DID YOU ALREADY FOUND MY TRUE IDENTITY!

(Y/N): Honestly, it was child's play. There were so many clues that were left behind that made me conclude that you were the thief.

I said whilst breaking her magical ropes with Dark lightning, piercing the rope.

(Y/N): Anyways, how did you get that form in the first place? I am curious...

Eris: Uhm, uh... well, I do have two forms, one of them is my Goddess form, which you are always around, and this form is my thief from, where I undergo the persona called Chris. The thief form is a sorta way for me to gather items of dead people reincarnated. Since I came to this world in my Goddess form, I couldn't just control two bodies at once, I only have one consciousness. So that's why I decided that at day, I am Eris, and at night, I am the Phantom thief Eris! And that's it!

(Y/N): I feel as if there is a lot more information that is withheld from me, but I'll let that slide for now. Anyways, I'm sleepy, let's just go to bed and rest for the day.

Eris: Actually, I need to do something important right now, and I can't let that thing wait. So...

(Y/N): Goddamit, ok. You do your thing. I'm just going to go back. You and I would forget this entire encounter and just do our things. Okay?

Eris: Yeah, I'm glad you would keep this a secret.

For the rest of the night, I could hear a particular voice of a teenager screaming on through the night.

Ah man, I just want some goddamn SLEEP! (I am writing this at 9:40 p.m. so I'm not writing anything creative!)

Edit: Okay, I am now well-rested. It seems as if (Y/N) has found the true identity of the phantom thief, but due to wanting to sleep, he didn't give a shit.
