Chapter 15: Showdown

-Ninjago City-

R.E.X sped across the skies of Ninjago city. Once a peaceful and calm City where kids could run around and play, now a burning hell hole without control in despair. Lloyd looked over his home in sadness, a mix of remorse and fury flooded his head. He felt a presence next to him and instantly knew who it was. 

"We will fix this" Harumi assured the blond haired boy as she placed a hand on his shoulder

"I know" He mumbled quietly, not that convinced 

"Lloyd...what's wrong?" Harumi asked, narrowing her eyes ever so slightly

Lloyd took a deep breath and slowly turned to her

"Its just...what if we fail, the City is in ruins, our friends are gone and-" Lloyd was cut off when Harumi placed a finger on his lips

"Lloyd you have to have hope, what happened to 'Ninja never quit'...we WILL get through this together" Harumi reassured him as Lloyd gave her a brief smile

The two were cut off when the ship came to a screeching halt. They turned around and saw the L.E.G.I.O.N grabbing onto the ship. It used its other hand to swipe at an engine. A loud explosion was heard.

"HOLD ON!" Ronin shouted as the ship started to plummet to the ground

Ronin jumped from his seat and chucked two bags at Lloyd and Harumi.

"Take the parachutes!" he ordered as he jumped off with a bag of his own

The pair nodded and leaped off R.E.X. They put the bags on their backs and activated their parachutes after a few moments. The trio managed to land in a market street. They dropped their parachutes and turned to each over.

"We have to move on foot" Lloyd stated with some new found confidence

"You two go ahead, I'll find and try to fix up R.E.X then catch-up...go end this" Ronin announced as he tossed Harumi the staff

The pair nodded and watched as Ronin ran into the distance. There was a sudden growl and the pair instantly snapped their heads behind them to see two earth creatures limping towards them. Lloyd blasted one with a pulse of bright green energy and watched as it exploded into chunks of rubble before it somehow rebuilt itself and continued to hobble towards them.

"That's not good" Harumi muttered dryly

Lloyd charged at one and punched it in the stomach but didn't even manage to harm it. He then tried to slice it with a katana but the blade sank through it. The monster's hand shifted into a blade and swiped Lloyd's cheek, causing blood to drizzle. Lloyd jumped back as he prepared to attack again before being struck by fire. Lloyd crashed into a wall and looked up to see Kai walking towards him, hands engulfed in flames. Lloyd turned to Harumi and shouted

"Get out of here, meet me at Borg tower!" 

"What!?...I'm not leaving you!" She protested

"You have to protect the staff just...trust me?"

Harumi knew better then to trust Lloyd with almost anything but she couldn't say no to him. She also dreaded the mere thought of leaving him alone in a dangerous situation but he was right, the staff must be protected at all costs.

"Fine" She reluctantly muttered as she started to run off

Kai saw this and tried to chase after her but Lloyd tackled him to the ground before he could do so.

"Kai you can fight it, stop this!" Lloyd pleaded as he pinned down the Red Ninja

Kai didn't reply, instead he growled and tried to squirm free of Lloyd's grasp but he wouldn't budge.
