You hesitated before you finally opened my story. Your scared, I can feel it. But there's no need for you to worry. I am okay.
You feel relieved but you don't understand why I'm not showing myself. You want to see me. You need to see me. So after a while I appear.
I look nothing less than horrible. You scan my body. My arms, littered with small scars. My hands have deep cuts that are still not healed. You heart slowly breaks but as you look up at my face you see a toothy grin.
I look happier than ever. And that's because I am. See I thought you would never come back. I thought I had scared you of. But here you are. Loving me back. Showing me how much you care.
"Thank you."
My voice comes out raspy. Like I had been crying for days. You don't understand. You don't understand why I'm thanking you.
"Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for staying by my side. And like the waves of the oceans, thank you for coming back to me."
My words sound so final giving you shivers down your spine. And for the first time it is not you who forces the book shut. It is I.
