"Dad?" Harry asked while they waited for Ginny in the hospital's children section, taking his eyes away from the telly so he could look at Draco, who hummed in acknowledgement, waiting for him to continue "Will the baby arrive by Christmas? Can I play with it then?"

Draco shook his head in amusement "No, it'll take a few more months for the baby to arrive and then you won't be able to play with them yet"

"Eh? But why?" Harry asked again, disappointed now.

"Well, babies are very fragile when they're born" Draco explained, pushing down his own anxiety in regards to how to best take care of a baby, they raised Harry well so far, that should count, no?

"Why are babies frag-, fra-... easy to hurt?" he asked, leaving the toy area towards Draco.

"Uhm, they still have growing up to do"

"Why?"

Draco sighed, too much curiosity could be quite annoying but he didn't want to push Harry away, so he just picked up the child and told him "I don't have the answer to everything, Harry"

But the boy just smiled and said "Of course you do, dad, you know everything!"

Draco realized then that Harry thought so because, as a child, there was much more Draco could do and know than him, and with Draco being there to help and answer, it wasn't difficult to assume he knew everything. Of course, Draco knew how fallible he truly was, but to his child, he was the one to rely on and trust, the father.

It was a strange realization to have, to be the one on the other side and the fear of making the same mistakes...

"Mr Hewitt?"

"Yes?" he turned around to the doctor.

"I believe you want to be present for this"

The two followed into the room where Ginny sat in a type of chair he'd never seen before the medical visits began, she smiled at them and Harry ran to her side, looking around wide-eyed, up until that point all visits had happened while the child had been in school so that was the first time he'd seen all that machinery.

"Everything all right?" Draco asked, taking Ginny's hand in his.

She nodded and answered "Yeah, we're actually going to hear the baby heartbeat now"

"That is possible?" he was incredulous, and the fact that it was possible with muggle technology was even more surprising.

"If the baby cooperates," the doctor said while preparing one of her devices "Didn't your previous doctor do that with Harry?"

Ginny smiled bashfully "We didn't have a great doctor" she lied so convincingly, Draco was almost proud, his Gryffindor and her dark side.

"So this will be the first time for you, huh" the doctor smiled, putting the device against Ginny's now bigger belly, despite the visual confirmation it was always a wonder whenever he thought about the fact that their child was there, and now they'd hear their heart.

"Aaand... here it is," the doctor narrated, moving around the device and looking at a monitor.

Ginny and Draco felt their own heartbeats spike as the sound played, it was faster than theirs and despite the slight static as the machine reproduced the sound it was so easy to understand, it was their child, right there, a reality more palpable with each beat.

"Wow!" Harry exclaimed, placing his hand on Ginny's belly "It's really the baby?"

"Yes, that's your sibling right there," the doctor said and Harry smiled even more.
