Hermione's POV

"I'm going to tell you something, something others have only guessed at... it's true, I am the chosen one, only I can destroy him but in order to do so I need to know what Tom Riddle asked you all those years ago in your office and I need to know what you told him. Be brave, Professor, be brave like my mother. Otherwise, you disgrace her, otherwise, she died for nothing, otherwise, the bowl will remain empty forever" using your mother's death to get what you want? That's very Slytherin of you Potter

"please... don't think badly of me when you see it. You've no idea what he was like, even then"

Slughorn raised his wand to his temple, a silver light came to the top and he brought the shaking tube to it as the light switched from his wand to the glass

I opened my eyes and looked out the Hospital window, it's night already, I turned to look at the bed in front of me.

Draco had been told he had to stay in the hospital for a few days to get his strength back, he wasn't asleep like before, he was sitting up and gazing at me

"you're staring"

"no, I'm not, I'm simply looking at you"

"nope, your staring"

"Alright, I might have been staring" he shrugged

"How are you feeling?"

"Alright, I guess, considering..." he trailed off

"yeah..."

"I was in the library last night, in the restricted section, and I read something rather odd about a rare piece of magic. It's called, as I understand it, a Horcrux" that's very, very dark magic

"I beg your pardon?" a Horcrux

"Horcrux, I came across the term while reading, and I didn't fully understand it"

"I'm not sure what you were reading, Tom, but this is very dark stuff, very dark indeed" no way! I had absolutely no idea!

"which is... why I came to you"

"a Horcrux is an object in which a person has concealed part of their soul" and when they die, they live on inside that object

"But I don't understand how that works sir"

"one splits one's soul and hides part of it in an object, by doing so you're protected, should you be attacked and your body destroyed"

"protected?"

"that part of your soul that is hidden lives on, in other words, you cannot die" why do I feel like those last three words are the words that created the idea of Voldemort

"and how does one split his soul, sir?" murder

"I think you already know the answer to that tom"

"murder" no shit Sherlock

"yes... killing rips the soul apart it is a violation against nature"

"can you only split the soul once? For instance, isn't seven-" Tom was fiddling with a ring on his middle finger

"seven? Merlin's beard, Tom, isn't it bad enough to consider killing one person? To rip the soul into seven pieces..." oh just wait, he kills a lot more than seven

"This is all hypothetical isn't it Tom? All academic?" um... who's gonna tell him?

"of course sir, it'll be our little secret" that sounds way too sexual for a kid to say to his teacher
