we gonna pretend he has blond hair

Hermione's POV

"Who's the half-blood prince?"

"who?"

"that's what it says right here 'this book is property of the half-blood prince'" Weasley threw the book back to Potter.

so that's how he's been doing so well, he's got a cheat book...

We had to go to dinner instead of actually doing anything with the cabinet that day, It's around Christmas now and we still weren't getting very far, we've used at least 50 spells that could work but none of them have, we think one of them has worked a little bit so we decided next time we go back we'll try using that spell again.

But right now, we were walking to Hogsmeade, the cursed necklace in my bag

"which plan are we going with?" he whispered as we entered the pub, not wanting anyone to overhear

"plan A, its our best idea" something had caught Draco's eye, I followed his gaze and it landed on Potter "we don't have time for him, come on"

I grasped his hand and pulled him toward the bathroom door, he opened it, there was one door to the boy's bathroom and one to the girls'

"Stay here"

I put on my mask and waited a few minutes before a Gryffindor walked in, I didn't know her name nor did I care. I pushed her to the wall and cast an imperius, Her eyes glazed over and a faint smile appeared on her lips, she wasn't in control, I was

and I hated it.

I passed her the necklace in the wrapping, careful not to actually touch it

"give this to Professor Dumbledore when you get back to school, forget what happened in this bathroom and forget I was here. leave like you were before" with that, I exited the lavatory, taking off the hideous mask and putting a disillusionment charm back over it

"done?"

"Yeah, let's get out of here" we didn't get too far before Slughorn approached us

"ah, Ms. Zabini how are you today?"

I was taken aback but forced a smile "I'm good Professor, how about you?"

"Good, Good, listen. Back when I was a Professor before I would throw a supper party every now and again, I would be delighted if you were to come"

I glanced at Draco, I don't have time for a supper party

"I would love to Professor, I would, honestly, but- now that it's a new term, and the first one nonetheless I don't have much time for a sit down really, too much work" I put a fake guilty mask on over the smile

"ah, yes, not to worry, maybe next time" I nodded as he turned away

"We need to leave, quick"

-

"I warned her! I warned her not to touch it" The girl I had given the necklace to was on the floor, being thrown from side to side before she was pulled up, floating in mid-air as if she were on strings And then thrown back into the snow, still twitching

"Don't get any closer, get back, all of you" Hagrid had appeared out of the frosty air and picked up the Gryffindor

"Gryffindors I swear..."

"what happened?" Draco asked as we walked through the corridors

"that nosy girl took the necklace out of wrappings" I rolled my eyes

what are we gonna do now...

*

"I didn't have time to go, Theo, I'm sorry, I just had to do homework"

I used to love quidditch but I haven't any time for it anymore, with all this dumbledore stuff, I've decided that I was gonna have to resign from the team soon. Theo and Daphne were having a go at me for it

"homework? Homework! You never do homework" my substitute transferred to ilvermony last term, so Daphne had to have Astoria on the team instead of her. she really hates when her sister plays

"that's why I had to do it, I'm left behind in stuff, now can you both leave me alone? I have to go find Draco"

I hadn't seen him in a few hours

"but-"

Ignoring their protests I walked away from them

I wandered up the astronomy tower and found Draco standing there, looking out to the lake. I walked toward him and rested a hand on his shoulder, he looked to my hand then me, his expression unchanging

"This is just so hard" he whispered

"I know" I turned my head to look at him "I miss him," I said softly

"me too" he pulled me into his embrace, kissing my forehead "he'll want us to do what he says though, for our safety, wouldn't he?"

I nodded, tears threatening to fall but refusing to let them "forever" I pulled away and looked up at him

"forever"

-

"after all this, we'll go somewhere"

We were sitting at the Astronomy tower, talking about random things when Draco brought up the subject of after his reign

"and where would that be?"

"... a beach, one with beautiful fish and blue water"

I smiled at the thought "and we'd stay there?"

"yep, we'll build a cozy beach house on it, I'll make sure there's a window balcony, because you love reading in them, we'll make sure there's a piano for you to play some songs for the little Hermione's that- eventually, will be running around the place. we'll have little picnics by the ocean too"

"That sounds like heaven Draco"

*

"Harmonia Nectere Passus"

We waited a few seconds before I opened the door

"the apple's gone" I smiled, all we have to do is make sure it comes back in one piece

"Harmonia Nectere Passus, Harmonia Nectere Passus" we opened it again and my smile dropped, it was back, but a bite was taken out of it

"it's alright... we just have to keep trying"

Sorry this was short, the next two or three will probably be short too
