Chapter 37

Athena's outfit * hairstyle^^

I apply lipgloss to my lips before setting it down and looking at myself in my vanity mirror. I had another physical therapy appointment today.

I honestly wasn't even in the mood to go because I know I won't have any luck doing the exercises. I sigh picking up my phone and checking the time seeing we still have an thirty minutes before we needed to leave.

I yawn looking around my room. Dr. Lorenzo put me on some type of medication to improve my muscle strength but it has me drained and tired.

He said that would be a side effect but I feel like I will just fall asleep at any moment. Which didn't help seeing I was forcing myself to stay up to avoid nightmares. I grab my purse putting my things inside.

I roll myself down the hallway to the hidden elevator. I roll inside pushing the first floor. Something makes me wanna push the lowest level but I don't.

I roll to the living room seeing Serena, Jayden, and Andrew sitting down on their phones.
"Hey you ready?" Serena asks putting her phone in her purse.

"Mhm" I mumble not having enough focus to form a sentence. "Maybe I need to talk to Dr. Lorenzo about the medicine you looked drained" Serena said concern laced in her voice.

It's still too hard to believe she even cares. I mean I she kept a whole mafia a secret. I still wonder why she even adopted me. But I'm a little nervous to ask.

At least I know it wasn't for money seeing the way the Rossi family lives.

We all gather our things walking out getting Into
Serena's Range Rover. As Andrew closed my door after helping me into the car with the help of Jayden I look over seeing the car Serena bought me.

I had to look away because the thought of me never being able to even drive it hurts a lot. I lay my head on the window putting my AirPods in and closing  my eyes to try and sleep.

{Time skip}

"Athena wake up we're here" Jayden says gently shaking me awake. I groan not wanting to even be here but I get up anyway.

Andrew and Jayden help me into my wheelchair before we all start walking into the building. I'm surprised Andrew actually came. Recently he hasn't been out much.

I think it's due to the grease ball.. I mean Marco. And the same overly bubbly strawberry blonde woman comes out from a hallway.

"Well hello their Athena!" She said in an hyper tone. I lowly roll my eyes to tired for her energy.

"She's hot bro right?" I hear Andrew say to Jayden as we follow her and Serena down the hallway. My face scrunches up in I think disgust or annoyance. Honestly I didn't know.

"Uh hot.. sure" Jayden says awkwardly. I couldn't help but let out a little laugh. "And what might be so funny little sister" Andrew says.

My face instantly straightens to a annoyed expression. "First off I'm not your 'sister' and dude she's like 25 you're still in high school" I say in an 'duh' tone.

"Uh I'm 18 so it's legal" Andrew says as we make it to the room. Everyone except me and the physical therapist go sit in the chairs by the doors.

She helps transfer me into a padded chair pulling the arm rests down so I wouldn't fall over.

"So today we are gonna try an easier exercise. No pressure just try your best it's totally fine if you don't get it this time." She says cheerfully.

"I want you to try to lift your leg and well foot for it to rest onto this foot rest" she said pulling down the foot rest on the bottoms of the chair.

"Ok when I say start try your hardest" she says looking at the clip broad in her hand. "Start" she says.

I try lifting it but failing. I heavily sigh rolling my eyes. "That's fine two more times practice makes perfect" she says.

I look over to see Serena Andrew and Jayden staring me down. I divert my attention back to my limp legs.

"Start" She says. And I hold the arm rest as I try picking up my foot. But this time I did. My eyes widen as I look up meeting everyone's eyes with the same surprised expression.

"See you did it!" The physical therapist says happily. I look over at the Rossi's seeing them smiling and even Andrew with a small grin on his face.

I look down at my foot moving it just a little. I even smiled.

We arrived back at the house. We tried the exercise a few more times but I failed. But the strawberry blonde therapist said it's perfectly fine and that I've made amazing progress. Of course Jayden and Serena were overly happy for me hell even Andrew said 'good job'.

It gave me some hope that I'd be able to walk again. We entered the house all going out separate ways.

Just as I was about go to my room I heard sniffing coming from Jayden's room. I didn't want to bother him but I was curious so I rolled over to his door.

The door was halfway open so I say him crying as he threw his phone somewhere randomly on his bed.

"Hey what's wrong?" I ask. He looks at me quickly wiping his face. "Uh it's nothing" he says trying to fake a smile but failing.

"It's not 'nothing' if you're crying you can tell me I promise" I say rolling into his room some.
"Griffin wants to take a break" Jayden says lowly words getting stuck.

"What why?" I asked feeling pity for him. "Well when we basically went into hiding he thought I just didn't want to be with him anymore" Jayden says his voice cracking as tears fall.

"I could run him over with my wheelchair if you want me to.." I say shrugging slightly. He looks up meeting my eyes.

After a few minutes of silence we both busy out laughing. "Oh my god you're so dumb for that" Jayden says laughing just as hard as me.

"sorry I just had to. But for real just talk it out maybe tell him.. I mean he's your boyfriend and all" I say as out laughs calm down.

"Thanks" he says a small smile on his face.

I make it to my room bending over to take my shoes off. As I lean back up I hear my phone buzzing in my purse.

I take it out seeing a number that says 'no caller ID'. I answer anyway putting the phone up to my ear.

My heart stops as I drop my phone tears falling rapidly as a loud throaty sob leaves my mouth.

"Did you miss me rose? I'm back"
