... Levi?
"You can't afford to wait, can you?" the beast continued.' What are you planning, Zeke?' I pondered carefully. He crunched firm rocks in his large hands and threw them at Eldian scouts. Suddenly, lightning struck the water by a large boat not too far away from us.
The colossal Titan rose from the ground with an explosion and towered over everything and everyone. But it didn't look the same as the one I knew four years ago. This one had lips and sorrowful blue eyes. Their facial structure was different as well. Bertholdt? Is that you?
A raven-haired man zoomed in and slashed the beast Titan's nape. He stood on the back of the monkey-like Titan, watching me closely as it crumbled to the earth with a loud thud. I watched the scene unfold on the rooftop of a nearby building.
"Mister Zeke!" a little girl with brown hair and auburn eyes screamed for her comrade. She looked young, about twelve years old. The girl stood next to a blonde boy with golden eyes, who appeared around the same age as her. The dark-haired man pulled out a grenade and blew up the nape of the beast's neck.
Moments later, steam advanced out of the colossal Titan's nape, revealing a blonde-haired boy with sky blue eyes. He looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint why.
After a few seconds, I realized I was staring off into space. I guess I have to continue fighting - fighting against my own people. I launched myself off of the edge of the rooftop I was standing on, just slashing a few more scouts' throats while in the air.
The attack Titan already ate the Warhammer at this point. He had used the jaw Titan as an orange squeezer to break the crystal that the Warhammer was inside. What happened to you, Eren?
As all the scouts were retreating to their airship, I tried to fly in the opposite direction of them but was unsuccessful. I looked over to see that I had been snatched by the same raven-haired man from a moment ago. "Hey! Put me down!" I hit his shoulder. No response. He zipped to the airship without any acknowledgment of what I just said.
When we entered the flying piece of technology, he dropped me onto the ground. The door slowly closed behind him while he did so. I noticed a plain, silver ring attached to a necklace that dangled from his neck and settled on his chest armor, signifying the loss of a loved one. Sorrow filled his eyes as he looked down at me. "Who are you? Why did you bring me here?" I interrogated.
He knelt to my level as I sat on the floor, "the name's Levi." My face morphed into shock when the words flowed out of his mouth.
"L-Levi?"
"So you do know who I am..." he said with a cold face.
I looked down to the wooden floors and mumbled, "four years huh..."
"What was that?"
"Oh uh- I was just thinking out loud, sorry..." and to that he just nodded.
"Why were you killing scouts?" He asked rather straightforwardly.
"About that,... Zeke threatened to kill my loved ones if I didn't help him, so uh- yeah," I continued looking towards the ground. This time, it was more out of shame than anything else.
"That piece of-..." he muttered under his breathe.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have agreed, even if the cost was so high. It was selfish of me," I whispered.
"Don't apologize for him being an asshat."
"But it was my faul-"
"I said... don't."
"Sorry..." I mumbled. "I wish I would've known that that monkey-lookin' bitch was Eren's brother."
"I know, but I still won't hesitate to kill that pig." He said seriously, causing me to giggle slightly.
"Four years," he dusted the already clean floor before sitting next to me. I turned my head towards him. "It's been four years since you disappeared. You grew just a tad bit taller, about maybe a millimeter," he giggled for just a second before resuming his old, bittersweet expression. It was impossible for me to not laugh at the words that just came out of his mouth.
"Oh yeah, well you are precisely the same, shawty," I pat his head twice. He gave me a fake pouty face before poking my cheek with his finger. "What happened while I was gone, I'm so confused right now. I woke up inside a crystal. And then I saw Eren, Reiner, and Zeke. Then Eren randomly turned into a Titan, I got caught in the explosion, there's a new colossal - who looks quite familiar by the way, Eren was killing innocent people, I don't even know where I am right now, Erwin isn't on this mission that I know of - and you guys never go on really important missions without him. I just feel so... lost."
"I'll catch you up: you were kidnapped by Marleyans, we do have a new colossal,-"
"But that means...-"
"Yes. Anyway, we are currently on our way back to Paradis Island, and Erwin is... dead."
"What? How? When? Who killed him?"
"It's a long story," I could tell that he just wasn't comfortable with talking about it right now, so I didn't bother asking more questions. Erwin was one of the closest people to him; therefore, it was probably hard to deal with. A couple seconds passed before he began speaking again, "you know, everyone thought you were dead."
"How did everyone take it? Probably not that bad since I'm just a forgettable soldier-"
"I saw people crying around the halls for days on end. Sasha didn't eat as much, Historia wasn't as cheery as usual, I caught Eren staring at walls blankly like a blockhead a lot. So, no, you are not just a 'forgettable soldier', Y/N." Tears began to threaten to fall from my eyes as he listed the way people acted after they thought I had passed.
"If only I was stronger... if only I could've fought back and prevented myself from being taken by who I thought was my comrades," I looked back to the floor.
Levi grabbed my chin gently and tilted it towards himself, "Y/N, what were you supposed to do against those pigs? They've even taken Eren while he was in his Titan form before."
"I guess you're right. But look who I've become... I'm supposed to the '#2 hero of humanity', but I've been killing my comrades just because a monkey-man was threatening me."
"Yes, but look at how you can reflect on your past actions. Some people can't see how what they've done is wrong."
"Thank you,... Levi," I smiled sadly, "I missed you a lot." He pulled me into a tight hug, insisting that he missed me as well. I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him back. It's been too long, Levi.
