Weeks later, the days blended together. Many people grew tired of the lack of activity in the village. For a moment, I craved to kill another titan. But I was unwilling to lose another soldier by the hands of these torturous monsters.

I was sitting at a table with Sasha, Connie, Eren, Mikasa, and Jean when someone came over to me. They looked like a messenger getting ready to spread some word.

"I assume one of you is Y/N L/N?" He called.

I glanced around at the table for a moment in question. Everyone shot me unknowing expressions. I looked back towards the man quickly. "Yes sir, I am!" I answered.

"I bare news from Captain Levi Ackerman... you have been added onto Levi's squad."

"Wait what...? Oh my god! Are you serious?- I mean lovely." I cut off my excitement with composure. Deep down, I was both relieved and nervous. He had the tendency to never smile. His cold appearance intimidated almost everyone. It made me wonder what was going on in his mind 24/7. Hopefully, I can lighten the mood on his team I thought.

Later that day, I met up with Levi and his squad. They were preparing for their next scouting mission. I didn't know what to do with myself, so I just sat next to the concentrated Levi. "Is there anything I can do to help, Captain Levi?" I requested.

"Yeah, could you get some water from the river please?" Levi replied.

"Of course!" Did he just say please? "By the way, I was wondering, when is the next mission, sir?"

"Today, actually. We're leaving at 12:30"

"Okay, thank you!" I smiled as I walked away. I received pure joy from helping Levi. I didn't understand it.

I strolled over to the river in the village and pulled out some water. I took some cheesecloth out of my bag and strained the water of dirt into a metal bowl. I then boiled the water, getting rid of as much bacteria as I could. Most of the time, we would just drink straight out of the river, but I didn't want anyone to get sick, so I was extra careful.

Eventually, it was time to leave the walls for our mission. I was nervous, it had been my first scouting trip. After all, we were just attempting to learn more about these strange, alien creatures. We still didn't know the origin of them and I don't think we ever will. They appeared out of the blue, how could we gain knowledge from that?

As we exited the barriers between our villages and the Titans, the citizens cheered for us. It felt as though they were excited for the death of our soldiers, even though I knew that that was not their intention.

I couldn't waste my time thinking about the demise of our men and women. I needed to focus on the objective, researching and observing the Titans as well as traveling to Wall Maria. I couldn't help but wonder, what if my friends and teammates die because I can't save them. Will that make me weak? Am I already weak? Then our entire mission would get ruined. I couldn't get myself out of my mind, I was stuck. Did we have some sort of plan? Or do we just sit back, every man for themselves, watching others die?

We rode on our horses, the air felt different than inside the walls. It was fresh and pure. It flowed against my face and blew through my hair. I was thriving, as though this was what I was meant to be doing. I was never so grateful to see nature and life.

Soon enough, the trees surrounded us as we went into a large, leafy forest. The aroma of wood and plants filled my nose and I was mesmerized. It was strange; even though I had seen so much nature in my other reality, I felt as if I hadn't. I heard the sound of birds chirping and branches swaying like the trees were dancing to the breeze. Everything was so beautiful until the loud pounding sounds and ground shaking started. We all knew exactly what was happening, Titans were arriving. The peace was disrupted. And soon enough, Titans were bolting towards us. Scouts flew into the air and were trying their hardest to fight these monsters. I knew what I had to do, even though it would waste my energy.

I held my thumb and pointer finger together and snapped. One of the Titans came crashing to the ground and fell on one of the scouts. That was on me, I felt so guilty. I had to tell Levi somehow so we could strategize with my abilities. I knew my powers could be an essential instrument to our success.

I began to be more prudent with my actions and focused on where the Titans would land if I killed them. I ended up destroying most of them. Then we got a message saying that there is an attack on the village.

"All scouts, we have to return back inside the walls. There's been a strike at Wall Rose." Levi announced loudly. As soon as we arrived at Wall Rose, we protected it the best we could. We spent hours defending the citizens. And many soldiers died in the process. I got so pissed, I slashed the necks of many Titans.

In time, a Titan grabbed me tightly and I couldn't move my hands to snap. It began to pull me towards its mouth, attempting to eat me. I accepted that there was no way I could escape the direction it was pulling me so I used my ODM gear and yanked myself into its mouth before it could bite down on me. I heard the sound of Levi's sorrowful yell as I fell into the Titan's throat.
