The next day was a very long day. The mother of the family I got killed was raging at me. I didn't blame her, I would've been the same way. My job was to protect the citizens of the village; but instead, I got almost an entire household murdered. I did the opposite of what I was supposed to do, it was all my fault. But, unfortunately, you can never save everyone. No matter how hard you try, it happens.
I was devastated, I knew exactly how she felt. I was the last of my family as well. At first, I thought that I was alone, that I had no one left. But then, I came here, Paradis Island. Here, I met so many people who became important to me. Including Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Sasha, Connie, Levi, and many more. I lost lots of people along the way, I just hoped the end of the road would be worth it.
Later that day, I was exhausted. I went to my room and lazily plopped onto my bed. After a few minutes, I was drifting off into a half-sleep. I felt dead and had a headache. Titan attacks were happening one after the other, we were given almost no breaks.
Suddenly, Levi walked into my room without announcing himself. I didn't realize it because I was very drowsy. "Y/N," he said tapping my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see Levi standing above me. I rubbed my eyes to see if I was seeing clearly. "What do you want," I sighed with a slight smile on my face.
"Wanna come hang out?" he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Sure, where?"
"You'll see..." he grabbed my hand and dragged me outside of my room. We went up a few flights of stairs, even though our sleeping compartment was close to the top of the building. He brought me over to a narrow hallway with a ladder at the end of it. "Where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll see in a second, can you climb?" he asked, holding out his hand.
"Do you really think that I can't climb? Am I really that defective to you?" I laughed while taking his hand.
"No, I don't. I just didn't want you to end up falling or something because you're a clumsy brat."
"Dayum, that kinda hurt, my guy. But I won't fall, don't even worry about it," I giggled. He smiled back at me.
We climbed the ladder together. Once we got to the top, there was a door in the ceiling. Above it was the rooftop of the building many soldiers were sleeping in. The area we walked onto was flat and large, with plenty of room to spend time on. There was a picnic blanket with a basket placed in the center. I looked into the sky to see the sun setting. Every color was vivid and they all blended together nicely. It was all so beautiful, I was immensely grateful and was left open-mouthed at the sight of the sweet scenery.
He knew that I was having a long, stressful day and he found me an escape. I couldn't be more thankful. He was more thoughtful and generous than he showed, I knew that. But I never expected anything like this. No one had ever done anything like that for me before, not even my ex-boyfriend. We sat down at the picnic table and began talking. " How was your day?" I asked Levi.
"Tiring, I'm guessing yours was similar?" He responded.
"Yeah, same. What made you wanna put more work in and do this?"
"I don't know, I could tell you needed a break," he said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well, thank you. Seriously. You always make my day 100 times better, I can't deny it. You always do so much for me, it means more than you'll ever understand," I said, smiling sweetly. He seemed as though my words put him off guard, he looked at the ground and appeared pleased.
I began humming and saying the lyrics to one of my favorite songs. "Kiss me and take off your clothes," I sang. Levi's face reddened and he tried covering his face. "A-are you okay, Levi?" I asked concernedly. He stayed silent and appeared to be holding back about something.
Suddenly, he shoved me over and got on top of me. My face reddened into a crimson pink quickly at the sudden contact. "What are you-" my voice was interrupted by him pressing his soft lips against mine. The kiss felt like it lasted forever but also very short at the same time. The world faded away and it was just us remaining. My stomach filled with butterflies and I felt like I was floating. This kiss was sweet and tender, like something that was long due. It may have only been about a year since we met, but I had grown attached to him so quickly. I never thought I could become so fond of someone so quickly.
At that moment I realized, I wasn't just fond of Captain Levi Ackerman, I had intense feelings for him. I was utterly in love with him. I loved everything that everyone else hated about him. I loved his dreamy, slender eyes. And the way he got so excited when he talked about his passion for tea. In fact, I thought it was quite cute. Even more, I loved his smile. It was so rare which made it even more precious and special. I wanted this moment to last forever. Just as always, being around him, all of my worries vanished. Time stopped, hopefully, it would endure.
Eventually, the sun had fully set and we were laying under the bright stars. I desired to savor and remember this moment forever. If only he was mine, nothing felt better than this. When no one was around, he contradicted what he always said. He told me that we were friends, but in this instant, I knew we were more than that. Deep down, I could see that he had feelings for me, the same that I did for him. He never said we were "just friends", he had said that we were close friends though. Can you stay with me forever? I thought. He made every moment last longer, every second felt special. I wouldn't mind if he drove me insane every day, as long as we were together through the sunrise into the sunset, as long as I got to wake up next to him every morning.
He made me feel like one in 7 billion. I could get used to the way he cared for me. No one ever treated me better than he did. I didn't ever want to lose him. There was something special and unique about Levi. He didn't treat me like other people did. At first, I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. I felt very enamored of Levi. I knew that this moment would rest in my heart forever.
That night, we fell asleep under the starlight. Thankfully, he brought blankets just in case it got cold. For someone who loved when things were clean, he surely didn't mind sleeping outside. I loved the way he talked, the way he walked, the way he looked when he was concentrating.
In the beginning, I kept denying my feelings. Now, all that mattered is that we were together. Anytime I wasn't around him, I yearned to see him again. Mostly, what I wanted was for him to be happy. I hated seeing him sad. I wanted to get to know every part of him though. I wanted to see his happy face, along with his anger, sadness, confusion, and many more faces.
I know I could be clingy; but still, I needed him near me. Every second was worth the trouble of the Titans learning seamlessly. The thing that haunted me most, was the reason that ended things with my last love. My fears didn't matter though, I just wanted to be with him any time that I could. If only he could hold me in his arms forever. I was afraid but in a beautiful way.
