01 - WHAT HAPPENED?

“Happy Graduation, Brielle!”

Yun ang sumalubong sakin dito sa labas ng auditorium matapos ng graduation. Napatakip na lamang ako sa bibig ko nang makita ang malaking banner na hawak ng mga ate at kuya ko kasama sina Dad.

“Woah... I didn't expect this, guys... You're so mean...” halos maging emosyonal ko nang sambit.

“Duh! Your ate Emma prepared this kaya.” sabi ni ate Audrey.

Napatingin naman ako kay ate Emma at lumapit sa kaniya. Deretsong niyakap ko siya ng mahigpit.

“Thank you, ate!” I said to her.

“You're always welcome, Brielle. Congratulations!” she replied at kumalas na kami sa isa't isa.

After 6 years, we had fixed what we have. I have already accepted that kuya Ethan is for ate Emma only. Matagal na. I have already moved on. Ilang taon na rin ang nakalilipas at masaya akong ganito.

Lumapit ako kay Dad at Mom, I mean ate Emma's Mom. I hugged them both with a smile on my lips. I'm holding my diploma at pinakita sa kanila.

“I graduated.” I said.

“Yes, you are, baby.” Dad said and tapped my head.

Malawak na lamang akong napangiti. Tapos na ang pag-aaral ko. Nakagraduate na ako sa edad na 22 and turning 23 na rin. This is one of the best event that happened in my life. All of my family and friends are here to celebrate my graduation. All of them are here in front of me except from ate Audrey's other friends and other sides of friends.

“Anyways, we prepared a party. So, we should head back now to mansion to celebrate more.” Dad said.

Natigilan naman ako saglit dun. “R-Really? M-May party pong mangyayari?” nabibigla kong tanong.

“Of course, anak.” Dad said.

“But.. you don't have to do that. Having you all in my side is enough...” I said.

“Sus! Hay nako, Brielle!” kapagkuwan ay singit ni kuya Josh. “It's okay to celebrate because it's our youngest best friend graduation day! The next day, you will have to work na sa company niyo. Ngayong graduation, you should be chilling and relaxing. Right, guys?” he said to them and they are all agreed.

‘Best friend...’

Napangiti na lamang ako sa sandaling ito. I feel so lucky. Even I am 6 and 7 years younger than them, tinatrato nila akong parang kasing-edad lang nila o minsan naman ay parang baby nila... Kaya nagagawa kong sabayan sila sa kahit ano. That's why it make me feel so lucky to be with them.

After that surprise, nagtungo na nga kami sa mansion. Pagkapasok na pagkapasok ko pa lamang ay dinig na dinig na ang tugtog. Marami-rami na rin ang tao. Mga businessmen and relatives. Mas marami pa ito kaysa sa debut ko noon. Hindi ko talaga ini-expect na magiging ganito ka-big deal ang pagkagraduate ko. But anyways, I felt happy and lucky.

“Congratulations, 2nd Princess.”

”Congrats, Younger McGrey.”

“Keep it up, Princess.”

Those are the words I can mainly hear. I smiled and thanked them. Hours past at ngayong gabi ay hindi ko ini-expect na mas dadami pa ang mga tao. Nakikita ko rin ang mga schoolmates ko. Halos lahat yata ay nandito. Nandito lamang ako a second floor, wearing my formal outfit. Literal na napapaawang ang labi ko hanggang sa naramdaman ko na lamang na may tumabi sakin.
