Nurse Trouble

When your parents returned with food, you'd happily eaten.

Who knew being dead could work up such an appetite?

Cat Noir filled one of the leftover cups with water, to try and preserve the flower as long as possible.

He said he wanted to try and plant it, hopefully get more.

Since s/n didn't hate school like you, they went to a public school and had been there all day.

The first time your parents had rushed to the hospital when you died they'd left s/n asleep, but asked the older couple next door to keep an eye on him/her, and the second time they'd come s/n had been dropped off at school, so when school had been let out, your father went to pick them up.

They hadn't even been told what happened, so they were clueless as to why the flower was important, actually real and shouldn't be touched.

"I want one! Can I have it?!" They ask, reaching for it.

"No! It's special, don't touch it!" You exclaim, pushing their hand away.

"Meanie! I just wanna see it!" They yell, shoving you.

Cat simultaneously stops you from stumbling, while also grabbing the flower and holding it up.

"Easy! Don't push, and this is mine!"

"I'm not gonna hurt it!"

"Let's just leave it sitting here, ok? It's for my mom." Cat says, putting it back in the window.

"Fine." They pout, crossing their arms.

You roll your eyes as the doctor you've gotten used to comes in.

"So we've been looking over your tests, and it just doesn't make sense. We'd like to keep you for at least another night, just to see if anything happens."

You're not fond of the idea, but agree to stay.

"We will have you hooked up to a few things like the heart monitor, but if you'd like to get up and walk around to stretch or something  that would be allowed, you just have to call for someone."

"Okay, fine."

"I'm hungry!" S/n pipes up.

"We have a cafeteria downstairs." The doctor informs them.

"What do they have?"

She lists a few things, but s/n doesn't want any of it, they want something your mother makes.

The doctor slips out, muttering something.

"You can go and get s/n fed, I'll stay here." Your father says to your mother.

"But Dad!! I need you to help me with my homework!" S/n complains.

"Can't Mom help you?"

"No, you always help me with this!"

"But I need to stay with y/n."

"You didn't last time!"

"Yeah, and I should've. So I will now."

"Dad, I'll be fine. You couldn't have done anything last night, the doctor's didn't even know what to do." You remind him.

"Please Dad! I have lots of homework!" S/n begs.

"I don't want to leave you alone." Your father says to you.

"I won't be alone, Adrien's here." You respond, nodding to where he's sitting in a chair beside your bed.

"Exactly. I left you two alone last night, and you know what happened."

"That wasn't his fault!!"

"How do we know that?"

"The doctors told us!?"

"I'm really really hungry!! Hurry up!" S/n interrupts.

"Fine! But no funny business!" Your father finally relents, giving Adrien a pointed look.

They all say their goodbyes and leave, making you sigh in relief.

"I love them, but jeez can they be pushy!" You groan.

"I'll say. Does s/n shove you like that all the time?" Cat asks, getting up to sit on the bed with you.

"Yeah, but it usually doesn't off balance me, I guess I'm just all weak and stuff."

"Having a sibling sounds hard."

"It is!" You giggle as a couple nurses come in, machines in tow.

"We're here to get you hooked up!" One chirps.

"Yippee!" You say with fake enthusiasm.

They laugh, then have Cat move back to his chair and you lay down.

One starts taking your vitals while the other starts getting the wires situated on you.

You feel a little weird letting him basically hold your hand to get a wire attached, but try not to think about it in that way, telling yourself he's just doing his job.

Though it's harder to do so when, even though he clearly doesn't mean to, because he quickly apologizes, he's reaching across you to push a button on the monitor and his hand brushes your chest for just a second.

You almost slap at him, but realize it might pull on the wires and hurt, so you just recoil into the mattress.

Of course he was reaching toward the side of the bed where Cat was sitting, so the nurse might as well have had a switch to turn the Protective Boyfriend Mode on.

You know the others can't read the quick expressions nearly as well as you, but you see his eyebrows furrow slightly, catch the movements of his ears, notice his jaw clenching.

You reach your hand out and take his, but are reprimanded by the nurse, who tells you to stay still.

Of course that doesn't help his case, and you almost laugh at the offended look Cat gains.

Plus you also pick up on the low growl, though it was so quiet you feel like you may have imagined it.

You feel his tail wrap around your arm, to which the nurse asks if Cat can control it.

"Nope. It just does whatever."

"I mean, will you hold it down or something? If it gets one of these wires undone I'll have to start over."

Cat quickly unwraps his tail and keeps hold of it, obviously wanting to get rid of the nurse as soon as possible.

The nurses get finished pretty quickly and make their way out.

"That guy needs to be more careful!" Cat says.

"Yeah, I almost slapped him, just out of reflex."

"Why didn't you?" He asks, and you can't tell if he's joking or not.

"Well, because it might've hurt because of the wires, and it was just an accident."

"Still, he should watch out a little more."

"Definitely."
