Chapter 14: The Party

POV Carla

Cedric, Ralph and I are invited to a party hosted by Amber. Since she is friends with Joseph, I guess he too is invited (as is Franz). But when we get to the house, I'm surprised to see Ian and his friends just outside.

"Ian? What are you doing here? "

He turns to me and smiles at me.

"Carla, good to see you. Amber invited me. "

"Joseph asked her? "

POV Yanyan

We finally enter the house. I would say more like a mansion, considering how big it is! It's also very beautiful. Franz and Joseph were already there along with a few other people. Probably other friends of Amber.

I think we are the last to arrive. The others were already dancing and drinking, probably alcohol. My gaze meets Joseph's. I have a feeling he's going to be staring at me all evening. I think an outside eye might think we were seducing each other but we are not. I just refuse to appear weak in front of him. Suddenly, Amber's voice brings me back to reality. I notice that some people have returned home, leaving only my friends, Amber and her friends, and me and Carla and her friends.

"How about we end the night with some good old truth or dare?" "

My heart is racing. I really want to know if I still have a chance with Carla. Joseph and I asked her out over a month ago now. Joseph may have retired from the race but I'm not giving up.
