Lydia Prescott had invisible strings attached to her fingers- all her life, Bianca had been told what to do- what to say, what to wear, what to think- just to fulfil the appearance her mother so desperately tried to keep up. All Lydia had to do was lift her pinky and Bianca would curtsey. Point her index and she would do a pirouette. Clap her hands and she would get down on her knees and beg for her mother's acceptance.

"Woah, woah, woah," Kelce interjected when the girl speared a piece of plastic along the shoreline a little too hard, "What did that piece of plastic ever do to you?"

"I'm imagining it's my mother," Bianca mumbled, putting the trash in bright orange bag in her other hand.

"She signed you up?" Kelce questioned in his light green v-neck, the group had agreed to a campaign for cleaning up the beach at Masonborough to it's 'virgin glory.' Her mother only wanted her to do it because it would look good on their name- shows that they care about the environment and cleaning up the island or some bullshit like that and Bianca had only agreed because she thought it would satisfy the woman.

"Yeah," She huffed, pushing her white headband back on her head, "Orange is not my color."

"Cheer up, B," Kelce grinned, dropping a small blue cooler in front of her, "Your day's about to get a hell of a lot better."

"What are you talking about?" Bianca frowned, crossing her arms over her with raised eyebrows.

Kelce reached into the cooler and pulled out a large bottle of yellow liquid, "You look thirsty," He handed it towards her.

"Gross, did you piss in it?" Bianca narrowed her eyes, dropping the trash bag and spear to the floor and stepping back slightly.

"No- just- I made it myself," When she still had a hesitant look on her face, he rolled his eyes, "Come on- try it, B."

Bianca sighed in resignation and took the bottle from him, unscrewing the cap to sniff it before she pulled it away quickly when her eyes started to water. She lifted the contents up to her lips just as she noticed Wheezie come up beside her from the corner of her eye and took a gulp. The liquid burned her throat the moment it hit, "Vodka and Crystal Light," Kelce hummed as she downed it.

Suddenly, Wheezie grabbed it from her and started gulping it down, "Woah," Kelce began snickering.

"Wheezie!" Bianca pulled the bottle away from her lips, "What the hell!?"

"What?" Wheezie managed to force out in between loud coughs.

"Since when did you start drinking? Bianca scoffed, running a hand through her dark strands.

"Since today," Wheezie shrugged.

"Your sister's going to kill me," She rolled her eyes.

Just as she said that, Sarah and Topper appeared over the sand dune where the other beach-goers were helping clean up. Their voices overlapped each other, raised and heavy as if they were arguing.

"Sarah don't do this right now," Topper rambled, "Let's just go back and we can-"

"No!" The girl shouted back, "I can't believe her-"

The blonde girl halted when the saw Bianca and Kelce standing a few feet away, narrowing her eyes harshly at her best friend. Bianca frowned when Sarah stormed up towards them, her boyfriend following behind with his head hung low.

"Did you tell Ward about John B?" Sarah huffed, her hands balled into fists beside her, "And don't lie- you were the only one on the boat and I saw you talking to my dad yesterday."

Bianca's eyes darted towards Topper who had a pitiful expression on his face before glancing down at Wheezie, who gave her a sheepish look. Coming to the conclusion that as it was her idea after all and not wanting to ruin Topper and Sarah's relationship after they'd been going so well, Bianca turned to Sarah.

"Whatever," The girl crossed her arms over her chest, "He deserved it- he stole from you."

"B-" Topper began, but his girlfriend quickly interjected.

"This isn't a game-" Sarah raged, the vein in her neck sticking out, "These are people's lives you're messing with! He thought I was the one who got him fired!"

"Yo, Sarah," Kelce tried to stop them, "Relax, they're just a bunch of Pogues-"

"Yeah well- he's lucky your dad didn't press charges!" Bianca raised her voice as well, earning the attention of the volunteers nearby, but she paid no mind.

"You know, she's kinda right-" Wheezie began, glancing between the two.

"Shut up, Wheezie!" Both girls yelled at the same time while the younger one merely rolled her eyes at them.

"John B got fired because of you," Sarah snarled, "And I know you can't imagine it, but some people need jobs so that they can eat!"

Something new pooled within Bianca, a feeling she'd never felt before and it made her kind of nauseous. Her pounding heart felt heavy, but her head told her to ignore it, "I was just looking out for you!" She scoffed, and it was the truth, even if her best friend couldn't see it.

"I don't need you to look out for me!" Sarah ground out furiously, "I didn't need you then and I don't need you now."

Bianca felt her heart drop in her chest, but she quickly covered up the hurt with a glare, "Is this another one of your stupid plans to push me away?"

"Depends," The blonde sneered, "Is it working?"

Bianca scoffed loudly, "Get fucked," She backed away, flipping her off.

"No- fuck you, B!" Sarah shouted at her fading figure, groaning as the girl headed towards the parking lot to drive home.
