The Stars (Yamaguchi x Tsukishima / Yamaguchi x Kageyama) -Haikyu!!-

Chapter 17 - Coming Together -

Tsukishima slowly pried his eyes open, wondering where the warmth that he felt was coming from. He gently turned his head up, looking at Yamaguchi who was staring at something, while he held his phone in the other hand. The two were still sitting together on the floor of the kitchen, his head laying on Yamaguchi's soft but firm shoulder blade. The tall blonde moved around to see what the freckled boy was staring at but it turns out he was just staring at the wall. 

When Yamaguchi noticed he was already awake, he turned to him. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" 

He can tell something was bothering him, but he didn't want to pry too much. "Not really," He uttered smothering his face on his back.

"Tsukki! That tickles!"

Tsukishima pulled his face away, before staring at him with puppy eyes. "I'm really sorry, Yamaguchi." Words he truly meant, but only for one instance. 

Yamaguchi flinched a little when he remembered how Tsukishima tried to force himself on him. So he took a deep breath, before turning to him again and smile. "It's alright, I understand." He said, ruffling the tall blonde's hair. "Besides, you won't do anything to hurt me intentionally, right?"

There was a brief moment of silence before Tsukishima leaned his head onto his shoulder again. "Of course not," 

"I got a text from Kenma, it turns out Kageyama cheated on me while we were still together."

"Oh, I knew that guy would do that sooner or later." 

The freckled boy's eyes widened at his calm response. He rolled his eyes towards him, staring at him without facing his way. As he was about to open his mouth t speak again, suddenly, both of their phones began to vibrate. 

The two of them pulled out their phones and saw a message from their Captain, telling them to meet at the front of the mall at 5 PM. It turns out, Daichi wanted to use the time to go to the mall and make sure that everyone is prepared for the upcoming Interhigh. The Captain did hear some of them were worried that their shoes were too worn out.

When they all arrived, Kageyama and Yamaguchi glance at each other, they were standing on opposite sides. Just like that, a smile automatically formed on Yamaguchi's face. Kageyama quickly turned away. He didn't think he deserves to see a smile of an angel. In his mind, he still needs to be punished for what he did. That he still needs to suffer.

Concern grew on Yamaguchi when he noticed how his skin was a little pale. As he was about to go to him, Tsukishima grabbed his hands. "Let's go look at some CDs." He smiled softly, trying to make his best friend feel safe, especially after what happened yesterday. Yamaguchi nods slowly. He was clearly nervous, glancing at his ex, hoping he was looking at him so their eyes can meet again but he wasn't.  

As the Tsukishima and Yamaguchi walked towards the store, the King released a deep sigh when they saw them. They've already broken up so he didn't feel like he needed to be jealous anymore. Hinata suddenly latched on to Kageyama's arm, pulling him towards the Sports Ware section. He really did need to buy new shoes since his old one was only hanging on for dear life with tapes.

When the four left, the team all stared at each other, concerned about their first years. As Yamaguchi and Tsukishima went to the record store, Yamaguchi can't help remember his conversation with Kenma.

"What do you mean?" - Yamaguchi texted, confused about what he texted saying that Kageyama was the one who cheated. He clearly knows he has the one who cheated.

"Huh? I thought that was your reason for breaking up with him? He cheated on you at a party you went to together. That's why you didn't wake up with him at Tendou's, right?" - Kenma replied.

So, the night he accidentally cheated with Tsukishima, Kageyama cheated too? It just didn't make sense for the freckled boy, his thoughts drifting as he stares aimlessly about anything he stood in front with.

"What's wrong Yamaguchi?" The tall blonde gently touched his shoulder.

Yamaguchi didn't want to bring it up now but the words just came out. "What happened that night?" Tsukishima's eyes widened at his sudden question. The freckled boy looked serious and he can tell it without Yamaguchi facing directly to look at him. "At Tendou's. What. Happened that night." Yamaguchi turns his head to him as he utters those words, slowly to make sure he heard them clearly.

"I-I told you, I can't remember a lot." Tsukishima stepped back a little, stuttering.

The freckled boy just sighed, his thoughts suddenly drifted all over the place. He didn't like it. Any of it. "I'm sorry," He scratched the back of his head, trying to smile for his best friend, but it came out awkwardly. "You just head home. I'm gonna go to the restroom real quick."

"I'll come with you." Tsukishima reached for his hands again.

"No!" Yamaguchi shouted, pulling his arms away from the blonde's touch. Some of the people in the mall started to stare at them. The freckled boy covered his mouth, shocked by how he acted. "I'll meet you back at your house."

There was a bit of a distance to the restroom. Yamaguchi looked around, trying to see if there was something that can make him stop thinking about this so he can just breathe for a moment. Then, he got his wish when he entered the restroom. This restroom was located on the furthest side of the mall and there weren't many people at that moment, all except for one. His ex, who was staring at him, standing by the door as he was about to leave.

Without a word, Yamaguchi went up to him and wrapped Kageyama in his arms as tightly as he can. Kageyama's eyes started to water as he started to grip the back of the freckled boy's shirt, hugging him back. For a moment, they forget about everything and everyone else, as they melt in each other warmth. It felt like they can breathe again normally. 

"Please, take care of yourself. Okay?" Yamaguchi said, wiping the tears from The King's eyes with his thumbs. Kagayema slowly nodded his head, both of their eyes fixed on each other's pupils. "Now, I really need to pee. So, can you move out the way?"

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry Tada-," He paused. "Yamaguchi.

Yamaguchi giggled a little, finding Kageyama's reaction cute. "Thank you, Tobio." 

Kageyama's can feel the feat in his face, turning it red. He cupped his own cheeks as he walkout out, trying to squeeze the fluffy feeling in his chest. He was so preoccupied that he bumps into Hinata who spilled his soda a little. Hinata was about to shout at him when he noticed the expression on the King's face.

"What's wrong Kageyama? Had a nice poop?"

"Shut up dumbass!" Kageyama said, shouting his lungs out. "And say "shit" not poop! What are you, a baby?" The two bickered on about a similar topic they used to fight about. 

What's with him? Tsukishima thought to himself as he walked alone towards his house. He can tell something is bothering his best friend and it's bothering him now too. As he closes the door behind him he saw Akitaru walking towards him.

"What did you do!?" Akiteru said, raising his voice a little. "Kei, did you touch some of my meds?" 

"What do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb. Did you touch it?" Kei just adverted his eyes, basically proving that he did. "Dude! Those were for my insomnia! Why did you even need that much, there was literally only two pills left. It clearly says on the label that it can cause severe headache when you take-"

"I couldn't let go." 

Akiteru's eyes widened. He just closed his mouth and approached him. Telling him to talk to him. Yamaguchi just arrived in front of his best friend's house, carrying some chips and soda for the two to share. As he was about to enter, he stopped in his tracks when heard Tsukishima and Akiteru talk.
