Chapter 16 - A Smile -

"I cheated on him, I cheated on Tadashi."

The words echoed in the air. It was like a weight has fallen off his chest but he feels like he doesn't deserve it. How could he when he hurt the person he loved the most. Hinata was stunned and speechless. 

Those two had a special place in his heart. Kageyama being his court partner while Yamaguchi being one of his closest friends. He had a feeling something was wrong between them when he noticed they weren't hanging around together like usual. Still, he can't believe it. He refused to believe that Kageyama can do something like that. Not on purpose. 

He gently pats the other's back, hoping he's doing right. Kageyama continued to cry. Suddenly, the orange-haired boy noticed bandages on the King's right wrist. Concerns formed on his face, as he points it out, asking what happened.

Kageyama just glanced at him, before directing his puffy eyes to the ground. Hinata didn't need words at that moment to answer his question. 

It was a good thing Miwa came to check on him that night. He didn't tell him about what happened, or what led him to do hurt himself. Miwa just held his little brother close to her, comforting him to sleep.

After his little brother has fallen asleep she made sure to hide all of the sharp objects she can find in the house in her room. She already lost both of her parents and she didn't want to lose his little brother too. 

"I'm not the smartest, I know that." Everyone does, yet Hinata tries to be there for him. His big brother sense kicked in. "But you can tell me what happened. I'll be more than happy to hear you out. Just don't expect good advice from me though."

Hinata giggled. Kageyama can't help but smile a little, knowing that Hinata is self-aware about his stupidity. So he took a deep breath and tried to recall what happened, that led to that moment.

The morning after the party, Kageyama woke up alone in a room, naked and bare. A headache greeted him. He noticed his hands clinging to a pair of bra and a panty were lying on the floor. A thought came to his mind and it wasn't a good one. 

So he immediately runs towards the bathroom, feeling a sharp pain in his legs. He didn't think about it too much until he looked at the mirror, seeing hickeys place on his neck and chest. There were also scratch marks on his back too, something he can't do himself.

His face was horrified at what he sees. No, he doesn't deserve this. He thought to himself, walking back until he hit the wall. There were some girls that night, maybe he slept with one of them by accident? But how? For he doesn't really remember what happened. 

Still, he refused to believe it. He put on his clothes in a hurry, before running downstairs. "Where's Yamaguchi!?" He cried out, to Terushima, the only person who was awake at that time.

"Oh, you mean freckles?" He murmured, barely standing straight. "I am not sure dude. Sorry. Maybe he left?" 

He bowed to the party animal to thanked him. Terushima tried to bow back, only to have his face planted on the floor. As soon as Kageyama stood outside, he began dialing his boyfriend's number, but he didn't pick up. So he tried multiple times, on his way to his boyfriend's house, neither one was answered.

"Hi, Tobio-chan." Oikawa grin as he approached him. Kageyama turned to him, giving him a death glare, something he hasn't done in a while. Oikawa felt the ominous aura in the air and stepped back a little. "Geez, why you serious. I was just striking a conversation."

"What do you want!?" 

"Are you really cranky after a passionate activity?" Kageyama's eyes widened, he snapped his attention towards his senpai. "You were really noisy that night. I can practically hear you from downstairs. You're lucky no one other than I seemed to hear it." He raised his head before walking off. 

Hello?

A familiar voice woke him up from his thoughts, it was coming from his phone. It was his boyfriend who finally picked up. He took a deep breath before answering him, making sure to smile to make sure he doesn't sound too weird. 

Normally, he would be happy just to hear his boyfriend's voice but this felt different. He felt something bad in his stomach as he talks to him, the guilt slowly eating him. But he didn't have time for that right now. 

It seems like Yamaguchi isn't feeling well so he decided to pick him up to make sure he's alright. He made sure to go to his house first, grabbing a big jacket that can cover his neck since he did have a lot of hickeys in that area. 

When he reached Tendou's he immediately runs towards the door and as soon as he opened it, he saw Yamaguchi who had a red scarf wrapped around him. "Good morning!" He cried out, forming a smile on his face, hoping that he looked normal.

He hesitated to reach for his hands, thinking that he didn't deserve to feel his warm touch again but he did it anyway. It might be selfish, but he wanted to forget what happened. When he held his hand, he can feel his heart calm itself. He never wanted to let go.

"Where do you want to eat?" He asked. He turned around and noticed Tadashi, just staring at the ground as they walk. He tightened his grip, before stoping, starling the freckled boy. "Are you feeling well?"

Yamaguchi just nodded his head quickly, forcing a smile. He can tell something is not alright. His boyfriend was never good at hiding his feelings. Kageyama didn't want to force anything out of his boyfriend. All he can do is be patient and wait for the moment he will share them sooner or later.

So he kissed his forehead, stroking the hair of his boyfriend gently, as a smile formed on his face. Yamaguchi smiled a little before the two continued to walked towards a fast food place to eat. 

"Damn! I'm starving!" Kageyama shouted to the air as he continues to guide his boyfriend.

I'm sorry, Tadashi. He thought to himself, as he continued to smiles for his boyfriend, hoping he is still doing it right. Who would have thought the person who smiled like a devil, and brought fear to many learned to hide his pain with a soft smile. A smile, that was the only thing holding him together.
