I LACED my shaky hands together resting them on Jamal's tummy as I looked at the familiar gates to a house I dreaded going because I knew no one really wanted me there. His mother and younger sister didn't really do a good job of hiding it, and part of me preferred that, i just couldn't help but wonder why they had a problem with a person who couldn't care less about their affairs.

I was close to two of his siblings which were Anisa and Mahmoud. They were the opposite of Zaheer and his younger sister, Humaira. They felt like my family even more than my own husband.

Anisa Murad is a successful entrepreneur following her father's footsteps. From the stories she shared with me, she interned at her father's company for the experience and opened her Fashion line not long after. She got married to Faisal Saleh which earned publicity for her, considering they were a known family and their influence ran deep. Her wedding was grand and she got popular for her impeccable taste which made her business flourish. Overall, she built her life and despite everything she's achieved, shes one of the sweetest souls I have ever met.

A lot consider Mahmoud and Zaheer to be twins, probably because Zaheer is three months older than him but Mahmoud is actually his step brother. Mahmoud on the other hand is a renowned neurosurgeon at a fairly young age. He works at the biggest hospital in the country and yet he has a very playful side of him, something I've seen more than enough.

Unfortunately for me, Zaheer didn't have a tradition to go visit his brother or sister every month, instead it was to visit his stuck up mother.  I tucked my lips in my mouth looking over to Zaheer who seemed busy on his phone.

"Is Anisa back?" I asked without glancing at him. I didn't get an immediate response as I watched him from the corner of my eye as he raised his head, his eyes darting to me.

"Something came up. She's staying for another six months." He replied and I nodded in response. Anisa went on a trip with her husband regarding his work and she hasn't been back ever since.

An impatient sigh left my lips just as the gaze buzzed, sliding open. Zaheer's phone clicked when he turned the screen off placing it in the cupholder as he drove down the driveway to the mansion.

I couldn't help but notice the small changes made to the house. The foyer was renovated in a way that brightened the space. I raised my head up to find the source of brighteness as I found the whole ceiling turned to glass, giving you a perfect view of the morning sky.

We made our way to Mama Fatima's own side of the house, finding her in her living room. She was seated casually watching the Ted Talks as a woman sitting on the floor beside her gave her a manicure.

I felt a hand on my lower back making me snap back to reality as Zaheer nodded his head towards the living room where his mother was sitting on a white sofa cutting her nails.

Before we could make another step, a loud squeal was heard as Humaira, his tennage sister rushed  to him bumping into me in the process jumping in his arms. A brief smile crawled onto his face as he rested his hands on her back.
