For the first time I was filled with something other than fear, hope. Because I knew, out all the boys before me from District Ten I won't hesitate. Because I've been there, hesitated once before and nearly didn't go through with it. But I did end up doing it, with little to show for it. This time I won't have to live in fear from the consequences of killing someone. All I need is a firm, strong hand and maybe... just maybe I'll have a shot of winning this thing.
A/N
Okay, so I can't really get Slendor's death out of my head. Originally, I just wrote him off as a Haymitch imitation but then he actually sorta had a full blown character development in the story. And needless to say I'm low key sad I killed him off and even I'm curious about his back story. Like, how did this poor boy from District Ten win the games with literally only his hands?!?. So I'm writing a prequel, sue me!. I think it'd be fun to see even Blu in her early mentor days, maybe it'll be interesting if she's not all Capitol but is still from the Capitol. And who was Slendor's district partner?!? it's something I never even thought about until now. So yeah, expect a love story or potential love triangle?, And how Slendor won the games and became the drunk man-whore that Haymitch only wishes he could be.
