Rose petals in the ashes

Chapter thirty:

~Jeremy's point of view~

I knocked on Serenity's door a bouqet of lillies in my arm, Rose told me that Serenity was allergic to her perfume hence why I didn't bring Rose's because all the perfume Rose wears has the flower she's named after extracts. I'd rolled my eyes and complained saying it woild make me look cheap but she insisted.

Serenity cautiously answered the door, when she saw me she opened it further. "Oh. It's you. What do you want?" I sighed. "Serenity, I didn't mean to hurt you and I most definitely didn't want to upset you. Please all I've ever wanted is to find my mate, to have, to hold, to love to cherish, you know that kind of stuff and I never meant to react like I did" she hugged her dressing gown closer. "Jeremy to say your my mate you have a bloody funny way of showing it!" I ran a hand through my sandy blond hair. "I know..."

She rolled her eyes. "Is this your way of apologising?" I nodded. "Look I can never apologise enough, I wish I could say that I'll never upset you again but I'd only be lying okay, nobody's perfect I mean except Rosemarie but you know what I mean" she nodded his agreement. "I do. But I can't be with you... I'm not a beta and omega's don't date beta's it's how society works" I handed her the flowers "These are for you" she took them from me and inhaled deeply. "Their beautiful, how did you know I liked lillies?" I blushed. "Rosemarie" she grinned. "She told you the perfume story huh?" I nodded and her grin became even wider. "Well I have to go see some people so, I guess I'll talk to you later" she nodded. "Bye" we said in unision as she shut the door behind herself.

~Meanwhile~Serenity's point of view~

I crawled into bed with plans of falling asleep. Or I thought I was. I shut my eyes and the next thing I saw was from Jeremy's perspective... what the hell?

~Serenity's dream~Jeremy's point of view~

I walked the corridors to Rosemarie's and Bennett's office. Rosemarie was taking a nap on the couch in there and Bennett was holding her as she slept. His eyes flew open and he became alert, his eyes finally resting on me. An eye brow quirked. "Alpha, I have something important to ask of you and Luna, but it'll require her being able to hear what I have to say" he chuckled. "We experience each others' encounters during sleep, she'll know anyway, in fact she'll probably wake up during the conversation. Do continue" he urged.

"Well... Serenity says that we can't mate because she's not a beta and it's not her place to intrude, so I was thinking the pack needs two beta's anyway and I'm already one so could you make Serenity a beta?" the two of us watched Rosemarie as she stirred and became part of our conversation. She stretched before putting herself to rights and sitting up. "You were saying?" she said with a small smile. I laughed. "Could you make Serenity a beta?" my alpha and luna exchanged discomforting glances. Bennett was the one to speak first. "Jeremy... Scarlett is already Rosemarie's beta, Serenity is an omega, born and breed but she's not even beta material anyway. Serenity suffers extreme low confidence levels, Rose has been working with her for the past two weeks and it seems that with Serenity's past she'd be ready to be a beta and you mate in about four years" I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "But can't you lower Scarlett's position, make Serenity beta, help her and then I get my mate?" Rose was the one to speak now "We'd love to help you Jeremy... but it just isn't possible, I'm sorry" I sighed again and left.

~Serenity's dream ended~Serenity's point of view~

The dream faded, leaving me muddled and confused as I sat up in my bed wondering what the hell it could mean. What was that? It felt so real! I've never experienced anything like that before...
