•Part 31•

Saturday morning was stressful. Much stressful that my prom day. I mean, Rachel was running around like crazy, shouting, crying, laughing, groaning, complaining, breathing heavily, shouting again. It was a cycle of mixed emotions which terrified me every time they changed. My aunty wasn't any better. I didn't blame her though, she had to make sure her daughters wedding was perfect. The bridesmaids were confused, looking around desperately trying to help Rachel but not really knowing how. Me? I tried staying calm. My hair and makeup was done last, which meant that I couldn't really help Rachel much anyway. Instead, I slipped on my multi coloured floral print skater dress, with a white chunky band at the skirt. The bridesmaid dresses weren't like the usual conservative ones at most weddings. Rachel was an artist, which meant that this all traditional wedding had a twist at every corner. I quickly slipped my feet into a pair of black suede pointy toe pumps and was ready.

My timing was perfect because as soon as I looked at myself in the mirror, my aunty blew her whistle - yes, she had a whistle - and everything suddenly stopped. "Girls, it's time!"

On queue, Rachel came out of her hotel room in a beautiful strapless fishtail dress, fully covered in white lace with a black ribbon around the waist tied into a bow at the back. She looked stunning, absolutely gorgeous. I could feel the emotions taking over but I hid them back, knowing that the ceremony would be even worse.

"You may now kiss the bride." Before Tom could even lean in, Rachel grabbed his face and practically ate it off. At that moment, it was obvious who was going to wear the pants in the marriage.

As they walked back down the isle, on their way out of the church the tears started spilling. She was married. Rachel, not only my cousin but one of my closest friends, who I had grown up with, day after day, was married. I couldn't believe it but couldn't help being happy for her. I truly believed Tom was the perfect guy for her, and she deserved to be in love and happy for the rest of her life.

Looking around for my date, my eye caught a too familiar face which was staring right back at me. For the whole of the ceremony I was practically standing opposite Liam, trying my best not to even look at him for a split second, and it worked. But now, it was too late, I was looking straight at him, and taking in his whole body, I stopped breathing for a short while. He was wearing a black tux, which fitted perfectly in all the right areas. His usual sexy bed hair, was gelled back into a perfectly styled quiff, revealing his beautiful eyes. I stared blankly, mesmerised, pretty sure my jaw was hanging down to my feet but I couldn't pick it back up. I was shocked and I obviously couldn't hide it. Liam looked insanely handsome.

"Hey beautiful." Sean's voice coming from behind me made me jump slightly. I quickly composed myself and turned on my heels to face him, clearing my throat uncomfortably.

"Hey Sean." I smiled.

"You look absolutely gorgeous." He told me.

"Not too bad yourself McCoy." I said, kissing him on his cheek. Sean was wearing a navy suit, with a white shirt and light pink tie and looked great, but I couldn't help but notice the fact that he didn't have the same effect on me as Liam did, and I wasn't even talking to that boy.

"Thanks." He chuckled. "Should we get going?" I nodded, as he slipped his arm around my waist and led me to the transport.

At one point during the reception, Rachel had come over and pulled Sean into a dance. I laughed from my seat, at the sight of him trying to catch up with my wild, slightly tipsy cousin as she led the dance.

"Hey." The voice sent shivers down my spine, but they weren't the ones that made you feel uncomfortable, no, they were nice.

I looked up at the boy standing in front of me. "Hey."

"Do you mind if I sit down?" He asked. I shook my head, which shocked by slightly. Mine and Liam's conversations never went well and I think we both knew that a wedding wasn't really the right place for us to have another fight.

"I'm sorry if this is inappropriate but I wanted to say that you look beautiful today." I could feel him searching for my eyes but I refused to look up. The words themselves sent warmth through my body and I had to bite back a smile. I was scared what his eyes could do to me.

"Thank you." I replied.

"Look, I know you have enough of my apologising--"

I shook my head. "Liam let's not do this here."

"No just listen to me please." He begged. "I wanted to say sorry for the rehearsal and the time at the pitch. All of this is my fault, and believe me, I know that. And believe it or not, I'm tired of the fighting and arguing. I'm tired of seeing you cry. So I just came over to tell you I'm sorry and I hope you have a lovely evening." And without another look my way, he stood up and walked away into the crowd.

My eyes followed him blankly. I didn't really know what to think. Liam's honesty and calmness had caught me by surprise, and his words had an effect on me that was a mixture of happiness and confusion. Why did this always had to happen to me?
