Kathleen Winfred

My new routine consisted of supervising work details in the morning and making rounds in the evening, checking on the prisoners to make sure they were secure in their cells, as well as helping to distribute their evening rations.

Pirot's schedule was the opposite. She brought the morning rations and supervised evening work details.

Working as a woman's guard was slightly more tiring than spending most of my day working as a secretary.

I went to bed tired each night, and usually had no trouble falling asleep.

I still spoke to Matthew when I could, and Pirot and I had lunch together every day we were able.

I had not seen Von Steubon except in passing. The only interactions he reserved for me were severe frowns and disapproving glances.
