Eloise Potter had only been at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies twice in her lifetime. The first time when Abraxas Malfoy had been particularly brutal in one of his punishments - this time being for having a tea party with the house elves and treating them like they weren't mounds of dung - and the second time was on the evening of the 25th of October after Sirius had stopped laughing at her for thinking she had wet herself and had rushed her to the hospital. Sirius Black was a worried mess...this was rare. Sirius was the kind of annoying person who was constantly suave and cool. However, as he was faced with the upcoming birth of his child, he looked like Peter Pettigrew before any form of academic examination: panicked. Eloise rolled her eyes as she waddled to the front desk while Sirius was checking through the bag for everything they needed,

"Hello there." Eloise said but the receptionist didn't look up from her typewriter,

"LOU I THINK WE'VE FORGOTTEN THE LITTLE BOOTS! WE NEED THE LITTLE- nevermind...they were under the hats."

"Excuse me..." Eloise repeated, blatantly ignoring Sirius and the receptionist looked up,

"What can I do you for?" she asked boredly and Eloise raised an eyebrow,

"A sore throat." she said sarcastically and the lady picked up a piece of paper,

"I can transfer you to the mild illnesses ward-"

"No...I'm joking...I'm clearly pregnant and about to give birth...I mean I'm no expert but I'm thinking I need the maternity ward." She put a hand on her hip, with some difficulty due to her bulging stomach,

"Second floor." the receptionist pointed to the sign on the wall and Eloise nodded her head,

"Thanks for the help." she muttered before trudging towards the lift, "Sirius, please stop worrying about whether we have enough spare teddies and help me get to the ward."

If Eloise heard the word 'push' one more time she was sure to punch someone in the-

"Push, Miss Potter!"

"I am fucking pushing!" she groaned in pain and gripped Sirius hand even tighter, "Sirius, I hate you so much right now."

"I know, love...I know." Sirius rubbed her cheek with a chuckle, "You're doing well though, Lou."

"Oh, am I? That's good. Now where's the fucking child it's been hours."

"Love, it's been fifteen minutes."

"You try and push a out a baby that seems to have inherited your big head and we'll see how your time-keeping skills are doing." Eloise said through gritted teeth as she let out a yell,

"I'm sorry, love." Sirius stroked her hair and tried to look sympathetic but couldn't hide his excited smile, "You're almost done though!"

"I CAN SEE A HEAD!" the doctor bellowed from the other end of the bed,

"See, love-

"THE DOCTOR SEES A HEAD!" a nurse screamed at Sirius and Eloise and the brunette turned to the woman with a sneer,

"Yeah I heard that funnily enough."

"Almost there, Miss Potter." the doctor poked her head up so Eloise could see her smiling face from above her hospital gown,

"Almost there, Miss-"

"I'm giving birth not going deaf, you daft dimbo!" Eloise glowered at the nurse before breathing heavily and clenching her teeth together from the excruciating pain,

"It's a good thing your wife is pretty, Mister Black." the nurse murmured to Sirius and Eloise narrowed her eyes,

"Say that again and I'll rip off-AARGHH"

"And that's it, Miss Potter." the doctor was beaming as she wrapped the small baby in a white cotton blanket, "It's a beautiful baby boy. Congratulations!" she handed Eloise the waddled up creature and took off her gloves, leaving the new parents to admire their baby in peace.

"Oh, he's beautiful." Eloise smoothed the tuft of black hair that sat atop of her son's head. She and Sirius watched, mesmerised, as his tiny nose crinkled and his mouth opened in a yawn. He wasn't crying, which Eloise felt immensely grateful for, and his little chubby hands sat on his chest. Eloise looked up at Sirius to see tears swimming in his grey eyes along with something she could only describe as pure love. She turned her gaze back to the small bundle in her arms and felt a tear slip through her eyelashes at the pure beauty of this little thing.

"He's so perfect." Sirius whispered and Eloise couldn't agree more. She nodded slightly as she traced a finger gently over the soft skin of his face. Sirius sat down next to her on the bed and placed an arm around her back. She turned to face him and he put a hand on her cheek, pulling her close to kiss her gently, "I don't think I've ever loved anything more that the two of you in my entire life." he whispered, placing his other hand against the baby's small body. Eloise gasped slightly as his little pink lips twitched into a smile as soon as Sirius' hand came in contact with him and Sirius let out a soft chuckle. Eloise felt her heart swell as she watched her son. She already knew that she would do anything in her power to ensure that he was happy at all times.

The couple looked up at the sound of the door opening and Eloise beamed when James bounded in,

"LET ME SEE MY GODCHILD!"

"Prongs! He's sleeping!"

"Oops, sorry- wait...he?" James stepped closer to the bed and Eloise's smile widened when Lily, Remus, Peter and her parents followed after James into the room.

"Yes, he." Sirius beamed at the people around him and turned to Eloise,

"I would like to introduce you to Alfie Sirius Black, our son." Eloise beamed as the room erupted into cheers and claps, each person in awe of little Alfie who was still cuddled up against his mother's chest,

"It's still Black?" Sirius asked, seeming apprehensive,

"Well it's his father's surname so..."

"But it's also the surname of a number of people I hate and a name I don't want to associate something so perfect and pure with." he stroked Alfie's forehead and Eloise sighed,

"Sirius. You are a Black and you are the single most wonderful person I know. I am proud to have my son associated with that name if it means he shares it with you." Eloise smiled up at her boyfriend and Sirius' eyes gleamed once more. He was about to say some undoubtedly, soppy reply when a small shriek came from Euphemia,

"He's opened his eyes!"

Sure enough, when they all looked down to where Alfie lay in Eloise's arms, his small eyes had fluttered open and were observing the room. Eloise, James and Euphemia all grinned when they looked closer and saw that his eyes were not grey, nor blue or any other colour of the rainbow, they were hazel. Or, more specifically, hazel with a few specks of green.
