Shawn's POV
•••
Making my way up the rocky path, my eyes stopped and focused.
Upon the steps, there she sat.
My damsel in distress.
I ran to her.
"What's the matter, princess?" I shout from a far.
She peeks at me through her pastel pink gloves, sadness pouring from her eyes.
I sat myself up on the step, wrapping my arm around her for comfort.
She nudges left, knocking me off of her.
"Don't. They'll see you." She sniffles
"Oh yeah? What will they do to stop me?"
She lightly smiles.
"You sure are brave for a little bread boy."
"What can I say?" I tease with confidence.
My hand grabs hers.
"Now what's wrong, princess?"
She shrugs and smudges her tear.
"I don't want- I cant-" she sighs "I don't love him."
My lips curl into a light smile.. but I hide it away.
"But princess, the wedding is tomorrow."
"I know.. I know, Shawn." She pouts.
"Why didn't you call it off sooner?" I ask.
"It's not that easy. Just because I don't want to marry him doesn't mean that I don't have to."
"Why do they make you, princess?" I ask her.
"That. That right there is why" she points to me. "Princess!"
"Soon to be queen." I say- which I probably shouldn't have said.
"You know, bread boy.. if I weren't so poise, I'd slap that crusty smirk right off of your face." She said with a light laugh.
"You would? Even after I made you feel better?" I tease.
This time, her lips curl.
She shows it.
"You're not coming-?" She hums.
"Coming?"
"To my wedding?" She asks.
"You think they'll let a bread boy into the wedding of the century?" I laugh.
"You're my bestfriend. You have to come!"
"Princess?" I speak.
She looks at me.
"Before my mum passed, she made me promise that I'd look after myself. If I were to go, I'd only be breaking a promise."
She looks at me with confusion in her bright eyes.
"Why would it hurt YOU?"
"Jealousy." I say.
More confussion.
"I'm in love with you, princess."
