Prologue:

This story is a different look on how it could have ended with Buffy and the whole gang. Sunnydale was never destroyed. The Hellmouth was only dormant. Meaning that in time the evil within will soon come back and try to be free once again. Spike had still used the amulet to destroy the Hellmouth and it had taken his life, but it never destroyed the whole town. Buildings caved in. Citizens were caught in the middle and had been killed. The streets cracked when the earthquake had hit. But the town itself didn't fall.

Sunnydale was never really the same after the big war with The Hellmouth. Sunnydale was was never destroyed but as the years went by the people began to rebuild and make it exactly how it used to look before all the chaos happened and demons destroyed everything. The Seal of Danzalthar was only dormant. Not closed like everyone had thought. Yes, the amulet was used to destroy all the Turok-Han and the remains of The Hellmouth but evil is evil. Where there is good, there is always evil and ever shall be. Vampires are made every day. New demon species come out of hiding and from all that evil... death always follows. With death comes someone to stop it. Someone to extinguish all evil and prevent so much death... a Slayer. A normal girl plucked from her everyday life and brought up as a champion by the man or woman, known as The Watcher. The Slayer is the one who puts everyone above herself. To save the world when it needed to be saved.

Buffy Summers had decided to stay in Sunnydale. It was her home and no where else could ever fill that part of her life. Her home was never touched when the destruction of the town hit. Xander Harris had moved away while the town was being built and just never came back. He wrote to Buffy to keep in touch. But he never came to visit. Yes, a part of her wanted to leave to start a brand new life. To finally be considered a normal girl. But normal is vastly overrated. She will always be the Slayer no matter what...The Chosen One. To Buffy, it didn't matter that Willow had used the essence from the Scythe and made all the Potentials, herself and also Faith have so much power. This is what she knew and was truly good at. She was not ready to give it up just yet. To give up all the memories she had of Sunnydale. The one memory that kept her there. That was her weakness at this point. She just couldn't let go...
