Chapter Forty One

2 weeks later...

"Aphmau, you need to eat." Lucinda tells her but she only gives back a blank stare. Aphmau's eyes fill with emptiness as she looks at the food presented in front of her. In her eyes, the food looks dull and blunt. She couldn't find the motivation to even eat.

"I don't want to." Aphmau says as she avoids eye contact. She could feel Lucinda staring at her and she didn't like the very feeling of it, she feels her freedom being taken away from her as she recalls her mother letting palace guards guard the outside of her bedroom.

Aphmau tried to escape a week ago and her mother, Queen Sylvanna, learned her lesson and took precautions which resulted to Aphmau's room being guarded.

"Aphmau, you haven't eaten th—"

"I'm not hungry." She bluntly says as she slowly pushes the food away from her. She's acting selfish, Aphmau could sense that but she couldn't do anything about it. Her depression keeps getting worser and worser and to be honest, she didn't really care anymore.

Her world is slowly tearing apart right before her eyes and she didn't have a clue on what to do, other than to just stay locked up inside her room for all she cares.

Lucinda lets out a defeated sigh as she realizes that she couldn't do anything. She grabs the tray of food and hesitantly leaves the room.

"How's Aphmau?" Queen Sylvanna asks the orange haired girl the moment she notices her leaving Aphmau's room.

Lucinda, with a nervous and worried expression plastered on her face, slowly shakes her head. "She hasn't eaten since yesterday."

Sylvanna lets out a sigh as her wrinkles are visible. She's been worried about her mija ever since she came back and when she knew about her attempt to escape, she couldn't help but take matters into her own hands.

"Guards," She addresses the guards who're stationed outside Aphmau's room. A total of five of them. "You can take your leave. The case of guarding my mija can be put at rest now." She says.

The guards, sensing her sincerity, bow their heads down before they swim away.

"Do you think, my mija is mad at me?" Queen Sylvanna couldn't help but ask. That question has been inside her mind all this time and she didn't know when's the right time to ask it.

"I don't think so, my queen." Lucinda says sternly. "I think Aphmau loves you dearly. Ever since we were kids, she used to tell me how amazing you were and how she wanted to be like the amazing person you are one day." She tells her as she recalls the things that took place back when Aphmau and her were kids.

Sylvanna smiles as her heart feels overwhelmed. "I just want her to go back to the way she used to be. The cheerful mija that brings a smile to the people she encounters."

"I'm sure there's a way to lift her spirits up..." Lucinda says.

"Maybe I can talk to her." A familiar voice says from behind Lucinda. Lucinda smiles as she knows where this was coming from, she turns her head and she's right about her assumption.
